"Where did Mun decide to equate Malal with Nyarlathotep and the Mythos?'
OOC:
I rarely do out of character posts. But this question was interesting to me. So, bare with me, please.
Malal has been depicted in about four different pieces of official art. In every single one of them, he looks different. But there's one of them, he's sitting on this dark, rock cut throne, all in black and white, with a face that is, I swear to you, the spitting image of one of the most detailed descriptions of the "Faceless" God that has always resonated with me. Furthermore, if you look at the concept art for his daemons, Malal's got these weird, eldritch creatures that look like images out of the paintings of some affected madman. I don't know how to describe it except that this resonated with me. As did official language that says he is both -Eldritch- and "utterly alien" compared to the other Gods.
The rest sort of fell into place. Malal is an amorphous entity. He's the jolly three-eyed hound you see above. But he's also a god with a wolf skull for a head. He's a dragon. He's the "god of the bloody tongue" (aforementioned eldritch faced nightmare inducing artwork.) If we accept that he was, is, intended as the most direct representation of primal chaos, I think it's very fair to assume he can be whatever he wants to be.
This is complete fan theory on my part, complete artistic license. And you can one hundred percent derive your own interpretation. But then again, doesn't doing so also validate mine?
Also, how do you know I'm not typing this from the Warp, and that "OOC" doesn't mean "Out of Cuddles" for the day?;)
Love you all,
M. and A.
