Being each other’s push of confidence and solidarity.

Being eachother’s confidantes.

I could easily imagine Makoto asking Rin for advice whenever he feels discouraged or less than confidant about things and Rin would be like “PFFT WHAT MAKOTO YOU’RE AMAZING” and make him all flustered and then seriously talk Makoto through his inner demons telling him he’s not good enough because HE IS.

And Rin would do the same whenever he feels emotionally overwhelmed or is clashing with others because Makoto would be great in giving Rin better perspective with things and be able to soothe his ruffled feathers in a way that others can’t easily do.

I just…wish KyoAni had the time to focus on their friendship. It’s different from Makoto’s connection with Haru, different from Haru’s connection with Rin, but I feel like there’s this sweet understanding of each other there, that they would be able to more easily talk about their feelings…since Rin seems to like to press Makoto to talk because he DOES legitimately worry about Makoto in a way that is a little more apparent than anyone else and I feel that in time, Makoto would be less guarded about pretending everything is okay and actually admit to how he’s feeling after a while. I feel that Makoto needs that, since he appears so terrified about making Haru ever worry about him even though Haru is his best friend.

And because it *is* Makoto, Rin would find it more difficult to jump the gun and start raging and grabbing collars like he usually does (orca-shark metephor anyone?) and actually listens, leading up to a nice, emotionally open little dialogue with Makoto.

And I think that would be really nice…for both of them.

I wish other people in fandom could realize how precious their friendship is.
