Another stroke and the canvas is transformed under his patient hands into a scene that has flickered behind Keith’s eyelids for months now.
It’s okay. Once it’s out of my head it can’t hurt me anymore.
No more nightmares, no more screaming, no more sleepless nights. A sob catches in Keith’s throat and he is trusted back into reality. The digital clock by his bedside glows 2:38 am, it’s been hours. He knows he should have gone to sleep, he’s going to a new school tomorrow morning after all, but he won’t stop until this painting is finished.
He glances down and sees the memory like he's standing there again at seven years old; the silhouettes of the trees, the black of the wrecked car, the red of the sky, red of the fire, red of the trucks, the red of their blood. There’s so much red. There’s too much red.
Red used to be his favorite color.

So basically my whole idea for this fic, Make Purple, at first was a high school AU with Introvert!Keith and Extrovert!Lance, but then I started thinking some more and came up with a weird clash of several AU’s which Make Purple hopefully will bring together.
So this is going to be a story set in their senior year at Garrison High, featuring...
Keith: the new kid who has a passion for art and is somehow good at everything without trying.
Lance: the over-the-top entertainer who OWNS the stage and won’t let Keith beat him so easily when he’s worked so hard to get where he is.
Pidge: the sarcastic genius who’s love for technology and music only grows and has to deal with her dumb friend’s (Lance) dumb crush (Keith).
Hunk: the mom friend who just wants everyone (Keith and Lance) to stop fighting all the time while Pidge and him work and makes the best apple crisp bars known to mankind.
Shiro: Keith’s brother (Keith is adopted), who owns a dance studio and is trying to get Keith to be happier, whatever the cost to his own pride.
Allura: The Drama Director who has to keep breaking up fights between Keith and Lance and keep her eyes off of the volunteer choreographer, all while trying to pull together what is turning out to be a train-wreck of a show.
Coran: The loyal family friend to Allura, Drama Assistant Director,and art teacher who is somehow convinces Keith into painting backdrops for the school musical.
It’s a highschooldrama!AU with dashes of dance!AU and artist!AU, filled with klangst, singing, mutual pinning, and fluff. Possible smut in the future, but this is just a rough idea for rn.
