When you have found a rock you think will make you nice paint and then through the making process you are delighted to find, it does make a lovely paint colour! This doesn’t always happen, sometimes a rock you think will be a good colour turns out to not be but that’s the fun of it, you never know for sure and no two batches are the same. During the Ally Pally outdoor exhibition I am going to take a walk around the park in search of rocks to make into paint. L O V E. W H A T. Y O U. DO Well, I think you can tell from my face how much I love being an artist and creating a narrative in my work. Here I am making paint on the day that Anna came to visit my studio, back when the sun was still shinning! I had such a lovely afternoon with Anna, she is a kind and generous person who happens to be a very talented photographer. We had never met before, only only talked via Instagram, but here we are together in my studio having a blast after Anna asked if she could visit to take some photos for a potential project she is working on. Spending the afternoon discussing my art with Anna gave me the perspective of how lucky I am to be pursuing my dream, a dream I have had since I was a child and now I feel like I can proudly say “I am an artist”. How lucky is that? I mean, I guess it’s not all luck. I work hard, I don’t give up and I know that this is something that I will always do. I will always work hard for this dream and I will forever be thankful for the people who make it possible for me to continue to do this. Be it because you have bought some of my work, made my day by telling me you admire my paintings or are one of those people who are an ear for me for when I am having ’one of those days’. You are all part of my journey and without you it isn’t possible. Just like when Anna came to visit, she made a part of my journey all that more memorable by taking honest and natural photos of me in my most loved environment, my studio.
