Reading this amazing fic by lilyconrad on AO3.

This scene/memory really got me. The “quiet affection for someone in secret while your friends are right there” is something I’m sure a lot of queers have experienced! My first girlfriend was my best friend in highschool and sleeping at friends houses and holding hands in the night was just A FEELING. So yeah, it got me!

It also got me Thinking Academically about ‘clonecest’ and how it kind of feels like a version of queerness? Like it would be just another orientation among the clones. And like any other orientation and identity it could occur alongside any others. And it has parallels with gayness in the “same loving” of being gay. I think that’s why it might be appealing in fan fiction, for me anyway. Also they cute.

In summary, Secret Handholding In The Dark is decidedly queer and I stand by that 😌

i think, in order to make up for the fact that julerose is only ‘canon’ in the very loosest sense of the word, that julerose should get more fan content. absolutely swamp the internet with it. just go bananas.
