Hear me out, Gaz as a siren and Makarov as a pirate captain. He's one of the most feared pirates out there, but one day at night as he’s looking over the ship’s railing, he sees a siren. They quickly dive down after noticing him, but eventually the siren begins to slowly trust that Makarov isn’t going to try and hunt him. But at some point, the siren disappears. With the disappearance, it is announced that Gaz, a witch that has aided pirates (especially to get back at the Crown for persecuting witches, hunting sirens and other mythical creatures, etc.) is now back in business. Makarov has been wanting to get a meeting with Gaz, and luckily they’re near the cove the witch inhabits so he goes to meet him and Gaz agrees to work with him. Gaz also is known for being raised by sirens, so he knows a lot. At some point on their journey, Makarov starts asking a bunch of questions about sirens to Gaz. At first, he thinks that Makarov wants to hunt sirens like some do, but he instead wants to try and court a siren(???), but the siren he wants to court hasn’t shown up. He’s asking all these questions like what do they eat, migration patterns, rituals, etc. Gaz asks him to describe the siren to see if he can maybe tell where the siren is from/which pod they belong to, and lo and behold Makarov describes Gaz’s siren form. So Gaz decides to transform one night and slip into the water to see if he can see Makarov. And they trade silly little rituals, though the siren never surfaces to speak (since he doesn’t want to give it away). And so they have a little ritual, Makarov and Gaz discuss things about sirens (and he starts slipping in little things that he likes) in the day, and during the night, the siren comes out to play around in the water. Makarov slowly takes notes, and once when docked, he comes across a fish that Gaz mentioned sirens love (actually, Gaz loves that fish, it reminds him of his home. Different pods have different kinds of fish they feed on), and buys one and gives it to the siren. He watches the siren eat it (yes he very much likes it, he thinks it’s cool and also somewhat hot watching the siren tear into the fish), and they seem to have really enjoyed it. At the same time, he also starts developing a crush on Gaz and starts to notice the similarities (similar canines, similar glint in their eyes, etc.).Â
Eventually, Gaz gets found out after he drags himself aboard this ship, slowly turning back into his human form. Makarov comes across him and it leads to a confession and kiss (also, Makarov takes Gaz back to the captain’s quarters to help wipe off the lingering blood and scales from the transformation). And they rule the seas (no TF141 in this au) since there's a siren witch and a powerful pirate. Also, they torment the Crown with their chaos :)

I get to spread my MakaGaz! Hurray! I will start with this is a rough fic idea that I will get around to writing soon, so to all of you reading this, hands off or I will steal your liver! /j
At its core it's Gaz getting manipulated by Makarov into fighting for his side, so it's incredibly toxic and it's supposed to be. Gaz is captured during a mission gone wrong and is now a prisoner of the Konni, but instead of being tortured for information or used as bait to draw the rest of the 141 over, Makarov doesn't lay a hand on Gaz and instead spends countless hours slowly and subtly leeching his way into Gaz's head over games of chess. He plays into Gaz's insecurities, his self doubts, his fears, the things he keeps hidden from his team, all the while keeping the rest of the 141 and their allies far away from where he's keeping Gaz in order to ensure he gets what he wants; Gaz's loyalty. And only when Makarov is certain Gaz will listen to him does he bring the man into the ranks of his team and the two start getting closer. Maybe Makarov is simply feigning the emotions to keep Gaz on his side, maybe the emotions are genuine, maybe Gaz is just imagining Makarov cares for him after being broken down and built back up. But that same undying loyalty Gaz once had for Price, Ghost, Soap, and the 141 has now been turned into undying loyalty for Makarov, even if part of him still wishes to see his old team, but that voice is boxed away since he knows what can happen if he dares let it out around anyone, let alone Makarov himself.
I need a ten part fix almost immediately. God I love this. Toxic? Yes. Maybe Makarov fucking himself over when he unintentionally starts to care about Gaz, 141 devastated over what's happened to Gaz and wanting to save him but he's not letting them. Yes yes yes

First, I am genuinely ecstatic to see that people actually want to see this idea, and it's pushed the idea far up near the top on my fic list, so it is now in progress and I will be back, off anon, when I start posting it!
Second, because I'm impatient and like to blab, I'm going to talk about Gaz and Nolan's relationship in the fic. In short, they both still hate each other.
Nolan doesn't understand what exactly Makarov sees in Gaz, why he doesn't get information about the 141 out of him, which would be vital in giving them an edge against the team, but he holds his tongue out of respect for his Commander. He is anything but pleased to find out Gaz is joining their ranks, and even less so when the former Sergeant quickly makes his way to being Makarov's left hand man, since he has not forgotten about what happened at St. Petersburg. Gaz also doesn't like Nolan, but he makes an effort to at least be somewhat courteous when they're made to work or train together. Even if he does get annoyed when Nolan seems to go out of his way to make his integration into the Konni group harder. But the second Nolan catches even a hint of Gaz and Makarov potentially having feelings for one another? He's damn near ready to rip Gaz limb from limb, because even though they aren't together, that's HIS Commander. HIS.
