After removing nails and finish from the old boards I cut them to shape and size. Since I have this awesome Miter-R-Excel I don't use sled or a miter saw that often. I added auxiliary fence to my Miter-R-Excell to minimize the tear out. Jessem provides screws with it to make it easier. What guides do you use on your table saw? When cutting wider pieces I use @jessemtoolcompany Stock Guides to do it more precisely and in a safely manner. Did you try this joinery? I have very precise setup here: @woodpeckers_tools router table with @jessemtoolcompany stock guides and @bowproducts_featherpro featherboard. I also used set up block design for those router bits and honestly I have never got a perfect fit.
