A   SPIDER    AT   HIS    WINDOW,   unwelcome  tonight.   johnny  shrugs  off  the  concerned  suggestion  and  pulls  on  his  suit,  back  turned  to  the  other  hero   —   when   it’s   all   just   heavy  ,     when  he’s  endlessly  numb,   he  flies.   clears  his  head  in  the  wind  and  burns  away  the  blue  in  his  bones.  

“   what,  did  sue  send  you?   ”    he  bites.  bitterness  in  his  tone.   almost  juvenile.    “  bet  she  forgot  to  mention  they  all  went  to  the  negative  zone  without  me.    ”   the  whole  team  on  a  mission,   one  big  happy  family,   but  no  johnny.   he  took  off  his  new  gear  and  missed  the signal,  so  he  can  shoulder  some  of  the  blame,  but there  are  always  other  ways  to  reach  him.    the sky,  a  call,  a  damn  text message.   THEY   DIDN’T   TRY.

well first off no questions the parkers are jewish so jot that down. but anyways, i think so much of the morality bred and raised into peter came from their faith. ben was a big believer in religion as a tool to do good and find comfort. though he understood people who distanced themselves from it, he was never one of them. he thinks there’s a certain beauty in religion, and though he never expected peter to have the same conviction he did, he did spend a lot of peter’s childhood reminding him of some big ticket values (namely, the importance of human life, and the idea that saving a single life is as important as saving the entire world). especially after richard’s death, when ben felt suddenly held to higher moral standards now (as the main male example in peter’s life), he clung to what he’d been taught his whole life, and used it to provide peter with guidance on what it meant to be good and fair and right. he always wanted his nephew to know that it’s okay to be imperfect, and stay soft in the face of a world that wants to harden him, and above all else, how important it is to have a moral compass, and guide to abide by when the going gets rough.
