it’s the shriek that really does it, really sets the feeling of what’s going on and just how grateful you are for the joy you’re feeling, of how your husband can take something so simple and turn it into such a beautiful and new memory. he’s got his arm tucked around your waist, never below ( the ever perfect gentleman ) as he’s guiding you closer to him until you have no means of escape. you’re trapped with flour and oil and covered in god knows what and you’re the happiest girl in the world, you truly are. / @yourdashinguncle​

he wipes his palms on his thighs because she’s right ----   which is no surprise,   she usually is.    ❛   then we’ll be careful,   and it’ll be fine,   i’m not that much of a klutz,   and you can carry yourself just fine,   ❜   he smiles,   and uses his free hand to grasp her’s:   he laces their fingers, and holds their hands up for all to see   (  though the potential audience of peter and ned would hardly be impressed by it all,   he still took a kind of pride in the theatrics of it all  ).

there’s not a day that ben doesn’t think about his brother.  it’s in part because the older peter gets, the more he looks like his father, but it’s also because he worries.  he wants peter to know how proud richard would be of him, and he wants him to know how much he is his father’s son.  but he worries sometimes that he doesn’t do right by his brother. he worries he does too much to replace richard, which he’s never wanted to do, not really. he loves feeling like he’s stepped up to plate, feeling connected with his nephew how a father would be with a son, but he’s also always been careful, at least semantically, to never impede on his brother’s territory.  though at the end of the day, ben really does think of peter as his son, he’s always worried that some how, the close relationship he has with peter somehow betrays richard’s memory.
