1: This was part of the intro. Very nice establishing who this artist is, and what he’s known for.
2. It’s a cat. There is something about cats that plays an important role in this documentary. This isn’t the first time a cat shows up.
3. Again, the repetition of the cat. I also enjoy how cynical it is. Can relate. 😂
4. Messy studio. Unfortunately, can also relate to this. 😅
But all these are important in representing our main character. He’s a free spirit.Â

1: I like the use of the dark background. It puts all the attention on Nas. The rule of thirds is used here.Â
2: This was from the part in the documentary where the photo of the bridge starts out blurry and gradually becomes clearer. I really enjoyed this entire part. If I’m not mistaken, this is the bridge near where Nas grew up. It was an important landmark for him. But I just liked the use of the blur.Â
3: I liked the use of the flares. They make the photo very colorful and fit the scene. He’s on stage, and his shows were always high energy, so it makes sense that it would be colorful.Â
4: I liked the use of smoke for a mysterious effect. It also works as a spotlight, once again, putting all the attention on Nas. I’ve seen photos of people using smoke for photo effects. I’d really like to try that one day.
For Parsons Media Design Fall 2021
1. I like this shot of the stamps and carvings. I've never seen this before.
2. The overall look of this cover is really nice. It incorporates everything we've learned in class regarding typography.
3. I always enjoy seeing iterations of things. It's a nice reminder that not many things can be done in one sitting.
4. That's a lot of fonts! I tend to forget that type was once handmade, so they had to keep a binder and record of everything. We have it so easy today in regards to this.
