Media Design Fall 2021

I loved the archival footage, it was really effective in showing Naomi as a person not just a tennis player and how she came to be a world famous player 

These scenes, a formal interview verses more candid shots of her and family members etc and their juxtaposition was great. it makes you realise that she is in fact so young and there is a lot of pressure surrounding this fame. 

#1 I like that it cut all of the moments when she is paunching the ball together.

#2 this implicates the connection between Naomi’s career and her families, setting the stage for the laster story.

#1 I like this empty shot. It seems like the reflection of train, so that the train is twisted. The background voice is saying that “I know it was hard for her”, and this scene shows the emotion perfectly.

#2 when the documentary shows old photos, they blur the background to create the depth of field.

#1 this scene is full of life. Two people sitting together and eating dinner, which makes this documentary really special.

#2 I really like the story going along with cutie’s illustration. It’s a creative way to do storytelling.

#1 Those maps are amazing. She shows a great data vis skill here. And what surprised me is that she listens to movie tape when she is drawing.

#2 I really like the process of her studio doing design. One example is the 55 logo and this is how they designed the highway city park’s logo. They used a smart way to find something similar both in the text and images.

1. I like this nice up close visual of the relationship between the two of them, making them seem very authentic

2. I love the playful colors that are used in this still

1. I liked this montage of action shots of Naomi from various angles as well as the less vibrant and grainy filter that is being used throughout the episode.

2. I like the wide establishing shot as the location is being changed and seeing the stadium completely empty before the match
