Said the spider to the fly...
So maybe he wasn't one for heavy lifting, or work that required upper body strength in general. Actually, any strength be it upper or lower wasn't the priest's shining achievement, but he had his drive and that's what mattered! And... perhaps the deerclops' words had gotten to him. He wasn't a free loader! And West refused to hold that title! And so, taking up an ax, West wandered into the forest with determination.
...It wasn't till he was surrounded by trees did he realize that determination didn't mean jack or shit when it came to chopping wood. Especially with an arm that was still recovering! Blast this thing for not being in tip top shape already.
West frowned and looked around, before spotting a small, sickly looking tree. Well, that couldn't be too hard to down. Dead and dried, it was remarkably easy to have it snapped with a few blows, even if he wasn't the strongest. Rather pleased with himself, the priest strolled off to find another, planning on taking down a few before dragging the lot back to camp. By the third, spindly tree, West found himself embarrassingly out of breath and working up quite the sweat! It was the thought that counted, he supposed, and something was better than nothing, so taking what he could get, West settled the ax in his sling and took up the fallen tree.
When he started to walk, West found the tree didn't come with- and this realization nearly had him laid flat with the unexpected jerk back.
"Hrk!... Oh, come now! I am not that weak." The Frenchman huffed his displeasure and gave a few harsher tugs. It was, thankfully for him, concluded it was stuck on something and not his lack of macho. Clucking his tongue, West moved over to investigate the stuck tree, lightly scuffing snow away from around it to get a better look--
Only for his foot to get stuck itself. Erm... What now? Brows furrowed, West struggled harder to release his foot, but his endeavors only found BOTH feet glued to the earth. Fretful floundering quickly lead to the priest losing his balance and falling backwards with a yelp.
"Merde! Qu'est-ce que c'est?!"
