Petite pensée et tous mes voeux de bonheur !
I never showed yall my lil lemur guy im making. Dont worry. King Julien will have his crown soon. When im not so sleep deprived that ill stab myself
Psa to remind everyone that madagascar isn't just a movie about some weird self-proclaimed lemur king and his zoo-animal mates.
People live there, and they don't deserve to have their culture ignored, erased and abandonned because of a movie. As a Malagasian/malagasy I heard many white persons say that I wasn't from Madagascar because "it's just a movie, it doesn't exist, it's not a real island" or "there's no human there, they're dead". And here on Tumblr, I have not seen one post about this country and the actual poc living there, and the amazing culture, the things they have to face (like the fact that Madagascar is one of the poorest countries in the world, but I guess no one cares ?!??), or even just the beautiful language ? The movie franchise Madagascar helped to make This great island more known to the public. Thank you for that. But it also erased an entire population and culture because it bothered the plot ? Because it wasn't conveniant for them ? And I'm honestly confused as to why no one found this problematic, or does everyone think it's fine ? And if so, why ? Also why didn't they at least make the lemurs speak malagasy ?At least at the beginning ? (And honestly, I really hate it when people ask me if I have ever seen those penguins)
