📜 Notice from the Mirrorsmith’s Workshop — The Third Mirror of the Bloom

I don't usually stop working to look at what's happening outside.

The workshop demands attention. Glass demands attention. A moment of distraction and something breaks, something bends the wrong way, something loses the quality it was supposed to carry.

But this morning I stopped.

There was a butterfly on the window ledge. Just sitting there, wings open, completely still.

Behind it, the branches of whatever tree grows along the eastern wall of the workshop had started to bloom overnight - pale pink, the kind of color that exists for maybe three days before it becomes something else entirely.

I stood there longer than I should have.

When I went back to the mirror I was working on, something had changed in how I was handling it. I wasn't thinking about the glass anymore. I was thinking about that window.

About the butterfly that didn't move. About the specific quality of the light coming through the blossoms.

This is the result.

Soft pink. Small petals caught mid-fall. A butterfly that chose to stay. Drops of light that don't quite behave the way light usually does.

I don't know if I could make this again. I'm not sure I'd want to. Some things are worth making exactly once.
