Airman First Class Morgan Porterfield Freeman (June 1, 1937) is an actor and film narrator. He won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor with Million Dollar Baby and has received Oscar nominations for his performances in Street Smart, Driving Miss Daisy, The Shawshank Redemption, and Invictus. He has won a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
He has appeared in many other box office hits, including Glory, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Seven, Deep Impact, The Sum of All Fears, Bruce Almighty, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Wanted, Red, Now You See Me, The Lego Movie, and Lucy. He rose to fame as part of the cast of the children’s program The Electric Company. Noted for his deep voice, he has served as a narrator, commentator, and voice actor for numerous programs, series, and television shows.
He made his acting debut at age nine, playing the lead role in a school play. He then attended Broad Street High School, which today serves as Threadgill Elementary School, in Greenwood, Mississippi. He won a statewide drama competition and, while still at Broad Street High School, performed in a radio show based in Nashville. He graduated from Broad Street, but turned down a partial drama scholarship from Jackson State University, opting instead to enlist in the USAF and served as an Automatic Tracking Radar Repairman, rising to the rank of Airman 1st Class.
He married twice, Jeanette Adair Bradshaw (1967-79). He married Myrna Colley-Lee (1984-2007). He has four children. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence
Allen Ezail Iverson (June 7, 1975) is a former basketball player. Nicknamed “the Answer” and “AI”, he played 14 seasons in the NBA at both the shooting guard and point guard positions. He won the NBA Rookie of the Year Award in 1997 and was an 11-time NBA All-Star, won the All-Star Game MVP award in 2001 and 2005, and was the NBA’s MVP in 2001. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016. He was honored as one of the league’s greatest players of all time by being named to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team. He is regarded as one of the greatest scorers and most influential players in NBA history.
He attended Bethel High School in Hampton and was a dual-sport athlete. He earned the Associated Press High School Player of the Year award in both football and basketball and won the Division 5 AAA Virginia state championship in both sports. He played college basketball for the Georgetown Hoyas for two years, during which he set the school record for career scoring average (23.0 points per game) and won Big East Defensive Player of the Year awards both years.
He declared eligibility for the 1996 NBA draft and was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers with the first overall pick. He was named the NBA Rookie of the Year in the 1996–97 season. A four-time scoring champion, winning the NBA scoring title during the 1998–99, 2000–01, 2001–02, and 2004–05 seasons, he was one of the most prolific scorers in NBA history. His regular-season career scoring average of 26.7 points per game ranks seventh all time, and his playoff career scoring average of 29.7 points per game is second only to Michael Jordan. He led his team to the 2001 NBA Finals in the same season. He represented the US at the 2004 Summer Olympics, winning the bronze medal.
He played for the Denver Nuggets, Detroit Pistons, and the Memphis Grizzlies before ending his NBA career with the 76ers during the 2009–10 season. He was rated the fifth-greatest NBA shooting guard of all time by ESPN in 2008. He finished his career in Turkey with Beşiktaş in 2011.
