A story based on Just a Walk in the Park where George Eads' character is a dog sitter who gets mistaken for his client who lives in a super upscale apartment building by a fellow dog owner who also lives in the building.

Ok: first of all: THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

Second: I really had a lot of fun with Cabin Under the Stars... and I'm usually not a fan or writing or reading AUs where the characters meet another way and don't know each other... but it was just... I don't know I loved it a lot. So I'm glad you liked it.

That Mac and Nick first time in Missing You... HAS SUCH A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART. When I wrote the first fic in that AU, this idea IMMEDIATELY came to mind. And I had to write it down ASAP. I loved the idea of them together... the insecurity of being without Jack (the person who brought them together)... each of them bringing something to the relationship that they don't get from Jack... but not in a way that's better just different... UGH I LOVED WRITING IT SO MUCH.

Jack in The Rookie Problem was fun and challenging... because I wanted to try to keep it semi-realistic in the way his realization comes around based on his background and being in professional sports for his whole life... so I'm glad it worked!... there are some... rocky roads ahead for those two in that one... Jack's roadblocks about his sexuality are going to form a big part of it... poor Jack.

I went to sleep super late after scrolling through the Nick Stokes and Jack Dalton tags and had this total crack dream that would be so awesome to make into a fic if only it wasn’t such absolute, undiluted nonsense!

Nevermind the weird way my mind puts dreams together. The gist of the narrative was this:

Mac and Nick have this amazing, soft relationship that confuses Mac all the same because he’s been in love with Jack forever. He was actually blown away when he met Nick by the similarities between Nick and Jack… and Jack has never returned Mac’s feelings, so Mac went for it. Now he’s incredibly happy with Nick but also feels guilty (because he still loves Jack) and heartbroken (because Jack *does* seem bothered by the fact that Mac is with someone else, but he’s so incredibly supportive of Mac’s relationship… even if he can be kind of hard on Mac's boyfriend with his judgements of Nick).

Then boom, the reveal: Jack is actually Nick. He met and fell in love with Mac and Mac died. He went home to his Granny who can do things like speak through people’s dreams, mix up little cures for people in her town, and SOMEHOW SEND PEOPLE THROUGH TIME.

She sent Nick back in time but he ended up too far back and had to find Mac’s boss, Matty, and get her help to become Jack Dalton and just live out his life waiting to meet Mac again.

He did - and fell in love with Mac a second time - but knew he couldn’t interfere with Mac and “Nick” getting together. Nick is the best version of himself, after all. The one that isn’t broken from having lost the man he loved. The one who hasn’t literally fought and killed since then, all in the name of being able to protect Mac better when the time comes to do so again.
