An unexpected dare | Mabs + Jax
Tuesdays at Lunar Heights were typically slow. They were lucky if they got a handful of regulars, which really..was not a bad thing in Jaxon's book. For one, it provided him with the opportunity to send his staff home early and second, get his own hands dirty behind the bar, which he hadn't experienced nearly enough lately. He had missed it, really.. the quiet satisfaction in the methodical wiping of glasses, the occasional small talk. It almost made him forget how crazy things were outside of these four walls.
Reed was in the middle of just that when a soft chime from the bell above the door broke the silence. His head snapped up, his worn-out dishcloth pausing mid-wipe just in time to see a new face walk in, their eyes meeting across the room. Nothing about that should have felt unusual. Not really. But as she got closer, Reed couldn't help but get the odd sense that his evening was about to change.
"Evening," he said, his voice a low rumble. He gestured with the dishcloth toward the empty stools. "Grab a seat wherever you like. What can I get for you?"
