PSA: if you don’t like book reviews, mute my page for the next ten days because this is alllll I’m going to be doing. • #bookreview for #sjmaas ‘s second series, and my second time reading this book this year (hello, #maastember @theglambookworm ) and since I didn’t post about it in April, here we are: •A Court of Thorns and Roses is absolutely a Beauty and the Beast retelling. The elements are there and obvious, however, what this bit of fantasy brings to the tale as old as time can be quickly summarized as follows: - Feyre, a human brutalized by unfortunate circumstances is the sole provider for her entire family (though she’s Legiterally the youngest alive *grumbles incoherently*) -Her sisters, Nesta and Elain are the wooooorst and I can’t believe #sjmaas is going to make me love Nesta in February when #acourtofsilverflames debuts. -Feyre is a huntress, and one winter when her family is starving, she murderlates a wolf to keep her family fed and coon in their pockets -Unbeknownst to our plagued heroine, that wolf was indeed a faerie, and a roaring, seething beast arrives to force her to pay the life debt she now owes to all Faedom (her family literally says “peace out, take her” and practically shoved her out the door! They’re truly the worst) -Enter Tamlin, the High Lord of the Spring Court and his emissary from the Autumn Court, Lucien -Feyre trusts no one but begins bantering with Lucien in a bid to make Tamlin release her from her life debt -Springtime shenanigans ensue and everything is all blossoms and sunlight until Feyre notices (as if the masquerade masks the entire Spring Court can NEVER TAKE OFF wasn’t clue enough) there’s a blight on the land and it might slip to human lands soon if Tam-Tam can’t fix it -Enter #rhysand , the High Lord of The Night Court (he’s our dastardly villain [wink, wink] come to rattle Tam about not even trying to save his people and lands) and it’s obvi that everyone hates Rhys for bowing to Amarantha (evil lady who’s taken over all the Fae lands because she can and why not?) #acotar #bookstagram #ireadyalit #feysand https://www.instagram.com/p/CIzaK_8B0Xd/?igshid=1t9pv6x844mfj
