આસો મહિનાના નોરતાની ખૂબ જ ધામધૂમ પૂર્વક ઉજવણી કરવામાં આવે છે. નવરાત્રિએ મહાશક્તિની આરાધનાનું પર્વ છે. અંબા- દુર્ગાના જુદા જુદા સ્વરૂપોની સતત નવ દિવસ સુધી પૂજા અર્ચના કરવામાં આવે છે. તેથી જ માતાનું એક નામ નવદુર્ગા પણ છે. મા દુર્ગાએ દેવતાઓના સામ્રાજ્યને સ્થાપિત કરવા માટે ત્રણેય લોકમાં ત્રાહિમામ મચાવનાર અસુરો સામે સતત નવ દિવસ સુધી યુદ્ધ કર્યું હતું. માત્ર ઉત્તર ભારત જ નહીં પણ દક્ષિણ ભારતમાં પણ…

The year was 1948, when a mentally disturbed man entered a garden where Mata Anandamayee (30 April 1896 - 27 August 1982), who was widely revered as an avatar of Mata Amba, was granting darshan. The man ordered all women to cover their heads but they paid him not attention. He then went to Maa and asked her to cover her head and she agreed. All the other women copied Maa.  The man sat in the men's section for some time and got up to leave. Maa asked a devotee to give the mad man fruit as prasad.
