M18 of the 77th Infantry Division on Okinawa.  11 May 1945 Why there's an M18 in the Pacific Theater, I can't really tell you.  It does have a big gun on it, maybe that's it.  And it's pretty light. According to a friend of mine with more sources than me: just before this, the 77th’s CO located eight M18′s to re-equip the anti-tank company of the 306th Infantry Regiment.  “M18s saw use mainly in the Philippines and on Okinawa with the 637th, 670th, and 671st tank destroyer battalions but only the 637th saw combat most notably during the battle of manila”
