First and Forever by Lynn Painter

I just fell into this and was on chapter 10 before I even looked up from my kindle. I loved Duffy and her dad, Tony; both are terrific. While this was a bit predictable, it didnât detract from my enjoyment of the story. I found this an extremely fun read.
Somehow, this was my first time reading any of Lynn Painterâs works, and I am already looking forward to reading more of her titles!
I adored this. Recommended.

Better Than the Movies is a light, româcomâstyle YA novel that follows Liz Buxbaum, a hopeless romantic who believes real life should work like the movies. When her childhood crush moves back to town, Liz teams up with her annoying (but lowkey charming) neighbor Wes Bennett to get his attentionâonly for things to not go exactly according to her plan.
The book shines in its banter. Liz and Wesâs backâandâforth is witty, natural, and genuinely fun to read. Their relationship develops slowly, making it feel earned rather than rushed. The story leans heavily into classic româcom tropes, but does so knowingly, which makes it charming instead of clichĂ©.
Liz is flawed and sometimes frustrating, but thatâs part of what makes her realistic. Her growthâespecially learning to let go of expectations and appreciate whatâs right in front of herâis handled well. The pacing is quick, and the tone stays upbeat throughout.
Overall, Better Than the Movies is cute, comforting, and exactly what youâd expect from a feelâgood româcom book. Itâs perfect if you want something fun, easy to read, and emotionally satisfying without being too heavy. Rating: 4 out of 5 stars ââââ

Book Review: Mr. Wrong Number - Lynn Painter (Potential Spoilers)

Description: Olivia Marshall is unlucky, putting it nicely. Everything that could go wrong, usually does for Olivia. The silver lining in all of it is that she's able to laugh at herself and get back up, which is exactly what she needs to do when her apartment gets burnt down and she has nowhere to go, so she has to turn to her brother and stay with him, not realizing that he's rooming with his best friend, Colin. Colin and Olivia were never on great terms, she was always Colin's best friend's annoying little sister, and he was always her brother's jerk of a best friend, but obviously with them now living together for a month while she gets back on her feet, those feelings turn confusing. Along with everything Olivia is already dealing with, a wrong number texting her "What are you wearing?" really turns up the heat for her and sends her life into a whirlwind.
Reason for Rating: I am a huge sucker for anonymity in stories so when it has to do with wrong number texting, I'm all for it. Do I think this could have gone in a better direction? Fersher, which is why I didn't give it a higher rating. Do I think the author did a good job at portraying the wrong number angle? Yes. This book kept me interested until the very end - I did not put it down until I finished it. It was filled with witty banter from multiple people, a little bit of drama, and a lot of flirting that will keep you on the edge of your seat. If you're thinking that Olivia has to choose between the wrong number that she's somehow started an anonymous sexting relationship with, or Colin, you're in for a lot more than that when you read the book!
đBOOK REVIEW : The Do-Over - Lynn Painter (Simon Pulse)
Emilie Hornby ââdreams about having the perfect Valentineâs day. Everything is ready and checked. She found the perfect gift and hope today will be the day where I love you will be exchanged. As a matter of fact, nothing goes as planned. And the young woman finds herself stuck in a time loop where Valentineâs Day happens again and again.
For Emilie, it is a nightmare. For the reader, it is the opportunity to discover the heroine in different facets. It is a very enjoyable story. Super quick read. I really enjoyed it. Family, friendship and love are at the heart of the story. Even if the concept of the same day repeating itself again, and again, and again isnât new (I am thinking about the movie Groundhog Day for exemple), Lynn Painter created a fresh and sensitive story, with a pinch of humor and a supernatural twist.
