Congratulations to Lynn Nottage for winning the Pulitzer Prize for her play, "Sweat," which is currently on Broadway (I knew I should've seen this play when it was off-Broadway at the Public Theatre, 😩). This is Nottage's second Pulitzer, as she won the prize in 2009 for her play "Ruined." "Sweat" tells the story of the residents from Reading, PA, who work at the local steel plant that is on the brink of closure because, capitalism. The play tackles issues like racism, unemployment and the American dream deferred, and although it is set in the year 2008, the story could've easily taken place today in Trump's America. While America has never been great, watching this play is a step in the right direction to understanding the real struggles of those Americans who Trump (and countless politicians/businessmen before him) shamelessly tramples on in his quest for power. The more you go to a theatre and the more you hear stories you aren't necessarily familiar with, the more open you become. - Lynn Notage, playwright
