A glass window in Kloster Schönau In the Odenwald near Schönau Monastery, a place is associated with an improper oath. A farmer wrongly claimed ownership of a field there, taking an oath. The ground under his feet immediately opened up and he sank in it, leaving no sign of him except his stick and a pair of shoes above the ground. This is why the location was known in the name of perjury. Some other stories of perjury tell that the upright fingers of the persons taking false oath were frozen forever. They were unable to bend their fingers for lifetime or their fingers became black. There were also stories telling that those false oath takers come out to the grave after their death. *Now in the region Baden-Württemberg, the Kloster Schönau was found in 1142 CE. Since 2008, this is a cultural history museum. #perjury #oathtaking #christianity #punishment #lyingandstealing #folktale #belief #sagen #grimms #badenwürttemberg #klosterschöau #travel #odenwald #germany🇩🇪 #german https://www.instagram.com/p/CdpT52Equux/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
