Hmm, all I could find so far is this, from „Contribution to the Identification of Some Trees and Shrubs in the Oldest Works of European Literature” by Jaroslav Levy:

„As with the pine, we meet a similar peculiarity with the shrub which is on one occasion called agnos, and at another time lygos. That this is the case is confirmed by Dioscorides who instructs us that lygos is the same thing as agnos (1.131). Dioscorides (1.131) and Theophrastus (H. 1.3, 2; 1.14, 2) describe agnos as a shrub of tree-like appearance, growing in the Mediterranean zone, which bears fruit on the top and has leaves resembling those of the olive. From these facts, and especially when we realize that ancient botanists probably took single parts of divided leaves for leaves, we may agree with Koch who considers agnos (and, therefore, lygos as well) to be the chaste-tree, Vitex agnus-castus.”
