The procession of Hephaistos on a Mule back up to Olympos, accompanied by Dionysus with satyrs and maenads, wraps unusually around the body of the krater, uninterrupted by the handles (photo 3). Also unusual is the photo from above - I suppose because the rim is decorated. The Satyr faces (or masks) on the handle tops have a great charm!
Another fun touch - the iconography of a satyr touching a maenad's butt (on the right) is common - but Lydos gives prominence to the reverse arrangement by framing it under the handle. They make eye-contact, too!
