A pang of fear swept through Lapis as she realized, yet again, she had managed to get herself trapped. The tide pool she was in was just deep enough for her to be submerged when she laid down, but the chance of being found by someone was really high...

In her panic she lifted her tail and hit the side of the pool, causing a loud splash and a surge of pain down the sensitive area. She cursed herself and knew full well that she had gone too far that time.

Curiosity would be the death of her. This was not the first time she had found herself trapped on land.

It was, however, the first time she saw an upright-walking land creature... Looking right at her...

With a panicked yelp she ducked below the water. It was foolish, really, seeing as how the water was clear, but that was the only idea she had. She hoped the up-walker would think she was just a big fish, or a dolphin. Her tail looked like a dolphin tail, so maybe that could work...?

For Peridot humiliation would probably be worse than any sort of physical harm. Her entire life on Homeworld was about her attempting to prove herself and outshine the many other workers just like her, to have any bit of that taken away would be more devastating than any wound, and her ego is pretty fragile as it is.
