Everyone go read the League of Extraordinary Gentlefolk. I am obsessed with it. Anyway hereโs a drawing of (most of?) the main cast as the League of Extraordinary Genrlemen comic cover (reference below cut)
Two of the many things that surprised me at TAFcon:
- The โadapting audio dramaโ panel gave so much insight about the mechanics and spirit of adapting stories between one medium and another, period. As the editor of @lxgentlefolkcomic I often work with authors who are used to writing prose, and part of my efforts is working with them to translate that to a webcomic formatโbut I always focused on the limitations of the new medium. The speaker who adapts Batman comics to audio drama professionally got me fired up about all the potential of graphic novel storytelling, and how adapting between mediums means embracing the unique soul of the new medium. Now I want to hunt down an online Graphic Novel college courseโฆ
- One of the Fawx and Stallion creators got really interested in LXGF when I mentioned it?? And followed the blog on the spot??? ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ
Gosh my brain is not drawing tonight, so instead, I'm going to share a very eclectic list of of my favorite Retelling/Rewritings of things:
1. The League of Extraordinary Gentlefolk:
Ongoing comic of the adventures of the Crew of Light post Dracula and their new friends--and new foes.
My gosh, this was everything I wanted LXG to be and just, wasn't. Fantasticly written characters who actually act like their canon counterparts, wonderful art, lots of fun easter eggs and just all around a rolicking good time in Victorian/Classic Gothic Lit. ๐๐๐๐๐๐
Check it out @lxgentlefolkcomic
2. Lore Rekindled
A stunning reminaging of Lore Olympus, and another banger of a comic that is giving me every I wanted the og to be and more. Endearing, fully realized characters with depth and heart, art that just keeps getting better and better, and so much care towards a true retelling of the Myth of Demeter. Once again ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
Check it out here: @genericpuff
3. Ghostsprobably's Winx Rewrite
Series of art videos that not only redesigns the Winx girls but rewrites their story in a wonderfully fresh and thoughtful way that stays true to the heart that made the original so fun. The reboot fans truly deserve from a fantastic artist and writer. Heading into its third and final season and I cannot wait to rediscover these characters as they're given new designs, life and depths!
Check it out here on Youtube and also give the creator @ghostsprobably some love!
3. Ask Ben Solo
So, I hated Kylo Ren in the movies (and the movies) and yet this version of him has become truly one of my absolute favorite people to read about.
An in-character ask blog from Ben Solo himself, in a universe where he didn't fall to the Darkside, but that doesn't mean he's free from struggles. Ones all too familiar to many of us.
The author/artist does such an amazing job of crafting characters that feel so real, as well as weaving in the wonderful galaxy far far away and making it feel like a truly lived in world absolutely perfectly.
It's been going since 2016 with a few years hiatus between, back up now, with Ben growing in real time from an angsty teen to a young adult doing his best in a struggle with mental health (and occasional attacks from the Dark Side) who you cannot help but root for.
Check it out here @askbensolo
(There are also two supplemental blogs for important OCs @fanniepentarra and @mal-is-tall , as well as one for this AU's version of Rey @askreysolo but they aren't as active, but still very fun to check out more of this excellent world)
commission for @enchantress-emily based on her wonderful LXGF prequel fanfic Didn't Exactly Walk Away From That Fight!

In the League of Extraordinary Gentlefolk update from a few weeks ago, I noticed that Jack goes from sitting on Quincey's lap to standing blushingly upright within just two panels, and I wondered what happened in the moments when our focus was on Jekyll. I had to draw it:
Do you...
...like Dracula Daily and want to see the team continuing to fight the supernatural together? ...wish Alan Moore's League of Extraordinary Gentlemen comics were kinder and more inclusive? ...enjoy massive crossovers of characters from classic Victorian literature?
Go read The League of Extraordinary Gentlefolk at @lxgentlefolkcomic!
More reasons to read LXGF:
The main leaders of the League are Mina Harker and Irene Norton (nรฉe Adler), backed up by their loving husbands Jonathan and Godfrey
In this universe Quincey Morris survived the events of Dracula, and he, Art, and Jack are now a throuple
The Invisible Man is a chaos gremlin
Sherlock Holmes is explicitly aro-ace
Dorian Gray appears occasionally to be Very Little Helpโข
This panel (aboard the Nautilus)
The way the main characters are all so supportive and caring toward each other (which has so many examples in the comic that I can't possibly represent it with just one panel)
In conclusion: check out @lxgentlefolkcomic!
Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: The League of Extraordinary Gentlefolk (Webcomic) Rating: General Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Characters: Jonathan Harker, Griffin | The Invisible Man Additional Tags: Hurt/Comfort, Sickfic, Angst and Humor, the inherent indignity of invisiblemanning Summary:
Griffin, down with yet another cold, makes the very reasonable and not at all maladjusted decision to run and hide about it.
Jonathan goes to bring him home, in more ways than one.
@lxgentlefolkcomic ILU thanks for the new blorbos <33333
