IT  WASN’T  AS  SIMPLE  AS  WE  THOUGHT.

after recent developments & a deeper investigation, grady caldwell’s death has officially been ruled a homicide. the main problem being that he had a lot of enemies, and the detectives are stumped on where to start in their investigation. there have also been whispers of a mob presence on the upper east side, but those rumors are quickly being silenced . . . in many ways.

the investigation is hanging a curious cloud over the upcoming masquerade ball, a dazzling party that the city has been buzzing about for months. the masquerade ball is an exquisite event hosted by the carroway family, a benefit for the local arts community. despite rising attentions and a growing sense of distrust, the carroways haven’t rescinded any invitations to potential threats. yet.

after all, it’s a hot ticket in town, and nothing, not even city-wide interrogations, will stop the guests from prepping with excitement. 

throughout the week, detectives will be questioning everyone. even if you barely knew the man, any information you’ve got could help create a new lead. they hope to speak with everyone before the ball this weekend, so when they come knocking, you better be prepared.

here is our first plot drop ! over the next few days, you will be receiving ‘interrogations’ via anons with any questions regarding the investigation  ----  ranging from where you were ( or who you were with ) that night to what happened weeks before. everything is connected, and they’re determined to catch a lead. your muses can tell the truth or lie, but remember that lying even in the slightest can have major consequences.

this will lead up to the MASQUERADE BALL, beginning thursday evening & lasting through sunday morning ! more details on that will follow, but we hope that everyone is excited to make it a fun and scandalous experience. 

LUXESHQ TASK #001.

the power of music that a certain lyric or melody can so succinctly capture what you may be feeling or completely change the way you feel, for better or worse. everyone has their favorite playlist, constantly on repeat, or even a few personal songs they’re too nervous to share with anyone else.

for our first task, we ask that you make a mixtape, consisting of at least five songs, that captures the essence of your muse. maybe it’s their favorite song or the song that helped you create them, but we want to use the gift of music to dig deeper into what makes your muses tick. 

you can use youtube, spotify, or 8tracks to create a playlist, a graphic if you’d like though it’s not essential, and make sure you post use the luxes.task tag so we can all jam to your playlist ! 

LUXESHQ EVENT #002: THE GRAND MASQUERADE.

THE SHOW MUST GO ON. despite an ongoing investigation and many complications along the way, one of the city’s biggest spectacles to signal a new year, THE GRAND MASQUERADE, will continue as scheduled. funded by the carroway family with no expense spared, it’s an event beyond anybody’s imagination. it’s grand, lavish, and given the fact that almost no press is allowed inside, the exclusivity is what truly seals the deal for everyone.

marilyn’s gossip app has been a thorn in everyone’s side for the last few weeks, there’s a sense a relief that even the staff of the magazine that have been given clearance to attend must turn in all cell phones and technological devices. with the unruly gossip and investigation tossed aside for the evening, there’s hope of a more relaxed evening   ----   surely there’s no way this night can be soiled . . .  right?

the champagne is flowing, the music is booming, the gowns are grand, and everyone is willing to be swept away for a night. however, there’s no such thing as a peaceful event around the city these days, so it’s only a matter of time before secrets are exposed and bombs are dropped . . . figuratively speaking, that is. 

beginning today, at 3pm pst and lasting until sunday, february 3rd, THE GRAND MASQUERADE will be taking place ! you may continue any threads you have going on, however we’d prefer if event threads took precedence over the next few days. it will be one long, wild night, so be prepared for lots of drama & excitement. be sure to tag all event related posts, from outfits to starters, with luxes.event02 and luxes.ball so we can all jump in on the fun !

three months ago, the upper east side was shaken by the untimely, sudden, and ultimately suspicious death of grady caldwell, ceo of caldwell industries. with their name plastered across countless buildings and towers all over the world, many wondered how the caldwell family intended to push forward. with his playboy son as the interim ceo in need of a major pr makeover, everyone soon realized that a new era of the company was upon them. 

while police are still ( quietly ) investigating the circumstaces of grady’s passing, everyone knew it was time to press forward. the caldwell gala has always been a staple of new york’s high society gatherings, but with a young, fresh face taking the reigns, it’s decidedly more glamorous. no longer solely reserved for businessmen and their bored dates, socialites, celebrities, writers, and everyone who’s anyone is invited to attend and make a splash.

whether anyone agrees that the caldwell heir deserves his throne or not, the glittering guest list is expected to don their finest looks and come for the first proper gala to set this year off right. champagne fountains, live music, decadent decor, all taking place within the pristine halls of the grand carroway hotel’s legendary ballroom.

as the night winds down & guests are starting to make their exit, a strange notification comes up on certain phones  ----  oddly enough, from the marilyn website app.

the first message reads as follows:

everyone looks lovely tonight, what a delight. however, i’m a little tired of seeing you bastards continuously go unchecked. that is about to change. don’t worry, it won’t just be me: you’re all accomplices. let’s face it, everyone hates someone, everyone has a secret, so you put two and two together, and here’s me ! an anonymous source for you guys to air grievances ( bleh ) and provide me with more receipts than i already have. maybe i’ll post blind items, maybe i’ll drop a name. the best part is watching you squirm. welcome to luxe bust --- oh, and you’re welcome for the jump in readers, marilyn. you’ll be getting weekly updates from me.

while the higher ups at marilyn wanted to disagree, the source wasn’t wrong. even at the gala, people who didn’t have the app were jumping on it. despite the highbrow inclinations. whether it was a blind item, a disguised name, or a blatant confession, people became enthralled with luxe bust, the fresh blog that provoked ways to torment the city and threaten the secrets of its most sparkling faces.
