#luciferus

I have quite a lot to do today so the notes I’ll be sharing will be general. If anyone reading this is interested in knowing anything more, feel free to message me about it. 

General notes:

They blend together in my head a lot more than I expected. I still see Them as separate beings of course, however I assume that due to the fact that They share many traits it is hard to tell them apart at times.

Hesperus is highly emotional as I thought; I started crying the other night because of something personal and while I was the one crying (obviously) it also felt like Hesperus was crying for me. That was a new experience to me, because while I feel sympathy and comfort from my Patron and other Deities when I’m down I’ve never felt as though a Deity is crying for me.

I believe They may rule over dreams because They’ve appeared in mine quite a lot lately. I usually have vivid dreams and have in the past written them down, but because I rarely do so anymore I struggle to remember them. But, something I do remember is dreaming about Hesperus and Eosphorus very often, usually scenarios where Their names come up randomly or spending time with Them.

I gave Them both flowers the other day, and Eosphorus’ withered and dried up very quickly. I doubt this is a bad sign though and think it might just have something to do with how fast He absorbs energy and whatnot. I will try to keep in mind for future reference that They probably like different flowers, though. 

I’m very curious about Phosphorus and am disappointed with the lack of information there is on both Eosphorus and Hesperus of course, but also Their presumed “combined” form. A tarot reading I did on their personalities made it seem as though Phosphorus is simply a combination of traits from the brothers, but I’m not entirely sure about it yet.

They both seem to enjoy jazz and listening to music, and in general They’re very cheerful and excitable. Almost in a child-like way which I personally find endearing. I also find myself feeling protective towards Them quite a lot, like a mother towards her children almost.

While Their parents according to myths are either Eos and Astraios or Eos and Kephalos I feel as though Aphrodite (Venus) may be Their mother. There are no myths that claim this, it’s simply what I feel. Either way They’re related to Her since They represent Venus. 

Some view Them as the same entity or being, I personally see them as two sides of the same coin however. In my personal opinion it’d feel disrespectful to say They’re fully one and the same just because They both happen to represent Venus in the night or morning sky.

Their personalities are vastly different. The “two sides of the same coin” thing I mentioned above makes Them opposites; Twins. Hesperus is significantly more introverted and drawn-back while Eosphorus is extroverted although he seems calmer. Eosphorus - leader. Hesperus - weary. 

That being said, I do not think Hesperus’ weariness and softness are bad traits at all. I believe He’s just simply more sensitive and emotional.

I felt threatened by Eosphorus at first, but that was mostly due to the fact that He is also Luciferus and thus Lucifer, and like many others I was taught to associate Lucifer with the Biblical devil. I stopped seeing it that way pretty young, but I was still worried for a while. I’ve now realized that the intimidation I felt was just His energy which is fairly intense.

Hesperus and Eosphorus both rule over love, this is only natural with them being a part of Venus who rules love. Hesperus, however, rules over the yearning and longing that exists in love while I would say Eosphorus rules over the more stable form of it. I’m not entirely sure on this yet, but I’m certain Hesperus rules over yearning and longing.

Eosphorus rules over truth, Hesperus rules over illusion and deception. Eosphorus rules over creation while Hesperus rules over destruction. They have shared traits, but a lot of the time They seem to rule over things that are direct opposites of each other.

Notes on symbols:

NOTE: Their only “official” symbol mentioned in the sources I’ve looked into is Aureole; Halos. Therefore, the symbols mentioned below are the ones I’ve taken note of and they may differ slightly for others.

Hesperus

General: halos, torches, stars, evening, Venus

Animals: doves, nightingales, hares/rabbits/bunnies, squirrels

Colors: white, royal/deep blue, gold, silver, pastel colors such as pink and lavender

Weapons: none

Numbers: 0, 2

Eosphorus

General: halos, torches, stars, dawn, Venus

Animals: serpents, wolves, sparrows

Colors: white, light blue, gold, silver, red

Weapons: sword

Numbers: 1, 2

I’m unsure whether to call the animal symbols Their sacred animals or not as you can tell that most animals associated with Them are also associated with other Deities.

Something I feel the need to make note of is that Hesperus is reminiscent of Aphrodite and so has similar symbols to Her. I’m unsure as to why this is, but I assume it’s either due to Hesperus’ softer nature and His connection to Venus or that He sent me the clearest signs He could whilst having no more official ones than the halo.

Eosphorus’ animals are closer to those of Apollo which makes sense as They (Lucifer and Apollo) are often compared. I do not personally see Lucifer and Apollo as inherently the same, but because of Their likenesses it’s no surprise Eosphorus’ animals are also those of Apollo’s.

While Hesperus represents the evening and Eosphorus the dawn, I have noticed that Eosphorus leans into darker colors more. There was a mix-up at first where I mistook Hesperus’ shade of blue with Eosphorus’, but Their symbolic colors are clearer to me now.
