A "moon sign" is how you express and internalize your emotions. In the zodiac, each of the planets are governed by a particular sign (or a handful of them in some cases). In this case, the moon is Cancer's territory. This means that it's the foundation of all emotional development. 

Moon In Aries = Your emotions are tied to your pride. You pretend you can't be hurt.

Moon In Taurus = Your emotions are balanced and you don't let them control you. 

Moon In Gemini = Your emotions are filtered through rationality and logic. 

Moon In Cancer = Your emotions have a mind of their own and you're very sensitive.

Moon In Leo = Your emotions are tied to your ego. You're secretly quite fragile. 

Moon In Virgo = Your emotions are tied to control/order. You try to organize them.

Moon In Libra = You prefer to balance your emotions out, choosing rationality.
