Overlooking the Tularosa Basin from Haynes overlook on the Sunspot Byway in the Sacramento Mountains. Heading back that way soon. Hoping to catch some spring flowers on the way there or on the way back.

Lonesome highway across San Augustin Plains. The plains extend roughly northeast-southwest, with a length of about 55 miles and a width varying between 5–15 miles. The basin is bounded on the south by the Luera Mountains and Pelona Mountain (outliers of the Black Range); on the west by the Tularosa Mountains; on the north by the Mangas, Crosby, Datil, and Gallinas Mountains; and on the east by the San Mateo Mountains.

Fort Marcy was a military reservation in Santa Fe, New Mexico used during the American Civil War and Mexican–American War. It was decommissioned in the 1890s.

Sparkys has grown to be a major roadside attraction known for their World Famous Green Chile Cheeseburger and great BBQ and live music. The World Famous Green Chile Room hosts weekly music events from major name players.
