So, I just spent a few minutes, or an hour and a half or so, sifting through genuine hate comments and trolls commenting on the "It Gets Better" videos and the September's Children music video. Too often, these hateful comments are posted in retaliation to a video, comment, or event whose message is love. When I tried to throw in a few kind words, I found repeatedly that 500 characters fills up quickly. Let's not let love be punished and lost in hatred. So, here's what I'm asking you to do:

Write your own message of love. It can be a very direct response to a specific manifestation of hate online, or a totally generic message that would combat hate in any form. Make it fewer than 500 characters. (If possible, fewer than 140.) Post it on Tumblr, and tag "love500", no space. Currently, this is an empty tag- let's follow it, and together build a resource for anyone who finds themselves in a sea of virtual, anonymous hate.
