Been sitting in the back seat of the car from LA to SD just listening to Riley and Thea chatting and catching up and playing games on my phone and I’m exhausted and sore but just hearing two of your best friends fall back into that easy pattern of conversation and interaction even though the three of us haven’t been living in the same place for over 3 years is really satisfying and comforting

Thank you so much for all of your sweet birthday wishes!! This has been a super chill, fun, and relaxing birthday. I feel like me and 25 are gonna get along.
The aquarium this morning was SO much fun, we were all bouncing around like little kids the whole time because we were so excited. I've been wanting to go to the Monterey Bay Aquarium since I first moved to Santa Cruz and haven't been able to afford it - but this week it's free for residents!! and we got there right when it opened, so for the first hour or so it wasn't very crowded at all, which was great. All the animals were SO COOL!!!!! I love marine life...my favorites were the otters, all the jellies, the cuttlefish, and the hammerheads in the big tank!!!
Afterward we had lunch at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co which was great :)))) and then we drove back to SC and I got to hang out with James for a little bit. Then West paid for me to go get a massage at a new place where it's only $25 for an hour and you are in a room with other people. It was kind of weird but still nice (only problem is when I'm getting a cheap massage I start over empathizing with my masseuse, like worrying about how much they get paid and whether their hands are tired and if I'm doing anythign to bother them etc etc but then I remember i'm leaving a 50% tip and feel a little bit better, but it still limits my ability to enjoy it).
Then I went and hung out at West's parents' apartment with them and West which was nice because they are wonderful and I sincerely enjoy their company, and they got thai food and we had a really nice talk over dinner. And then I came home and Skyped with my mom, and she got me a ukulele case!! Which is great because I've literally been carrying my uke around in the cardboard box it came in since I got it 3 years ago lmao.
And I probably should've gotten a liiittle more work done this weekend because now I have two papers to finish tomorrow but it's OK, theyre basically done and i'm basically done with the semester!! and it was a really relaxing birthday and I enjoyed every minute of it. I'm feeling really really grateful for how everything in my life is going right now and especially all the people in it. Like, not only is my blood family supportive and wonderful - aka my parents and cousins on my mom's side (who sent me a sweet birthday video), but my partners are perfect and incredible, my parents-in-law are ALL super sweet and great and fun to spend time with, and then I have this whole extended found family that consists of my people here in SC as well as friends far away and you guys here, and it's just like !!!!! I am so, so incredibly blessed and i'm really feeling it tonight.
so I guess thank you all for getting me to 25, here's to another three quarters of a century!!

tbh, the thing that keeps me coming back to this tumblr dot com every day is the really amazing little community we've built on here. all the support and love and compliments are so wonderful, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE seeing the friend webs growing; like seeing two of my friends who didn't know each other before interacting nicely with each other and just this ever-growing really great safe-feeling community. I'm often wary about what I post these days and how personal I get, and a lot of the backlash I've received has made me draw different boundaries, but I have so many safe warm feelings toward my mutuals and the people who follow me whose urls I recognize and I love going to check people's blogs out and finding out that they're really good folk. so like, thank you? you're all really amazing and I really appreciate this space, even if it can be dicey sometimes.
