Title: The One with the Loutish Lounge Lizard
The gang is gathered at their usual spot. ROSS is reading a paleontology journal, RACHEL is flipping through a fashion magazine, MONICA is organizing sugar packets, CHANDLER is sipping coffee, JOEY is practicing his lines, and PHOEBE is tuning her guitar.
JOEY: (excitedly) Guys, guess what? I got a part in a new play!
CHANDLER: (sarcastically) Let me guess, youāre playing āMan Who Stands in Background #3ā?
JOEY: (proudly) Nope! Iām the lead! Iām playing a suave lounge singer named Lou the Lout!
MONICA: (confused) Lou the Lout? What kind of name is that?
JOEY: (shrugging) I dunno, but itās a big role! I get to sing and everything!
PHOEBE: (enthusiastically) Ooh, can we hear a sneak preview?
JOEY: (clears throat, dramatically) Okay, here goes⦠(sings off-key) āIām Lou the Lout, and Iām here to shout, come on and check me out!ā
The gang exchanges amused glances.
RACHEL: (trying to be supportive) Wow, Joey, that was⦠something.
ROSS: (teasing) Yeah, I think I heard a dinosaur cry in the distance.
JOEY: (defensive) Hey, itās a work in progress!
CHANDLER: (smirking) More like a work in regress.
JOEY glares at CHANDLER, who raises his hands in mock surrender.
PHOEBE: (encouraging) Donāt listen to them, Joey. I think itās great! You just need a little more⦠pizzazz.
JOEY: (nodding) Yeah, pizzazz! Thatās what Iām missing!
JOEY stands up and starts practicing his moves, trying to be suave but ends up tripping over the coffee table.
MONICA: (laughing) Maybe start with not falling over your own feet.
JOEY: (getting up, brushing himself off) Itās all part of the act!
The door swings open and GUNTHER enters, carrying a tray of coffee.
GUNTHER: (deadpan) Joey, if you need any tips on being a lounge lizard, Iām your guy.
CHANDLER: (grinning) Yeah, Guntherās got the ālizardā part down.
The gang laughs as GUNTHER rolls his eyes and walks away.
JOEY: (determined) Just you wait. By the time the play opens, Iāll be the best Lou the Lout this town has ever seen!
PHOEBE: (cheerfully) And if not, you can always join my band as a backup singer!
The gang bursts into laughter as JOEY strikes a dramatic pose, trying to look suave but only managing to look more like a lout.
