In spite of my bastard art program krita trying very hard to sabotage the whole thing including multiple attempts to nuke entire files with variable success. I'm working on solutions for this other than complaining and losing it I swear.
Anyway, this takes place during Kindred, though with some changes. I decided to keep Hera with the crew in place of Ryder, so that she could meet Wolf!Kanan, and so Ryder isn't around to ruin the surprise (as he is also a Wolfwalker who lost his connection like Ezra's parents, therefore he'd know what the bite meant). Hera will still take off with the data recorder and lead the attack on Lothal, just at a slightly later point.

In which Sabine develops this sick new dye herself from bioluminescent algea found on Peridea! In her sketchbook it says there's already glow-in-the-dark hairdye made from plankton from Mon Cala and this is all well and good but while they're stuck on Peridea for months if not years, Sabine is determined to recreate it from scratch with the Peridean variety. Like this is her new obsession.
The Noti use the algea to paint their shells for special occasions and Ezra has been waiting a decade to show Sabine bc he knows she'll love it. And he was right, Wolfbine is rolling in the stuff and running around like a puppy. It's stinky. She does not care, she is having a blast. Which she desperately needs bc I spend most of ashowka rewrite era mercilessly beating her with hammers so. LET HER HAVE THIS

Their ship is now stinky bc Sabine keeps collecting the algea to experiment with but no one's about to complain bc this is the first thing that's made her visibly happy in weeks. She's been through hell, and worse art deprived for months, she needs this to live. By the end of it she's got glowing hairdye, nail polish, spray paint, and explosives of course.
Once back on Lothal, Wolfbine has at least one loth-biologist convinced they've discovered a rare new species of bioluminescent lothwolf.

What's that? You thought this was gonna be the Thrawn chapter? So did I! I was literally halfway through the first page of that when this came to me in a vision after years of having decided I was going to skip over the Maul plot. Lol 💀
Thing is Maul and Ezra's relationship has a little too much potential, I just couldn't seem to come up with anything that was achievable in a reasonable time frame and wouldn't spiral into a whole spinoff. It definitely deserves to be expanded upon further but there's more important stuff to get to, I just want to wolf the other Spectres already dammit.
Anyway, in case it wasn't obvious this takes place during Visions and Voices. Maul glimpsed the Wolf when they joined the holocrans and has wondered about it ever since. To the several asks I got curious about Maul in this series that I never got around to answering, this one's for you! This chapter definitely wouldn't have happened without those <3

I have nothing to say for myself.
This chapter marks 40 comic pages so far, wow. Which means enough drawings that I can re-use sketches and parts of lineart which means less work and I never have to figure out Ezra's hair from scratch again. Not that it matters bc he is about to shave it all off (rip).
