Sylas

When I get home I immediately sink into my bed and sigh in relief. I'm so happy to finally be home. School sucks and I never wanna go back. I grab a bag of Doritos and sit back down on my bed to surf the web. I end up on Tumblr, like I always do, and I notice a private message from someone named 'GlimmerFox' that says: 

Omg you're so cool and I don't want to sound creepy, but I love your blog so much!!!

I respond with: 

Thanks, and I don't think that sounds creepy. At least you didn't ask to see my feet. 

Fox: Ew, why would I want to see your feet? Feet are nasty.

Me: You'd be surprised. 

Fox: How do you stay sane? 

Me: A clever mix of humor and self hate. 

Fox: Oof. We should play 20 questions. Just get to know each other. It could be fun 

Me: Ok. 1: what's your favorite color? 

Fox: Maroon. 1: favorite animal? 

Me: Dogs, I'm assuming yours is a fox :p 2: dream job? 

Fox: Figure skater and my favorite animal is not a fox. 2: if you could live anywhere where would you live? 

Me: Somewhere tropical. 

And the rest of the night goes similarly to that. Me and Fox talk back and forth late into the night, my mom pokes her head in occasionally to see what I'm up to, and I end up not finishing my homework. Which is normal for me. 

The next morning I'm tired and cranky from staying up so late. I see Luka at his locker and suddenly remember that I never did my English homework. So, I do what any logical person would do and slam my hand on the locker next to Luka to get his attention. 

He jumps and looks up at me with fear in his brilliant blue eyes. "What do you need?" He mumbles and continues to grab what he needs for class. 

"Your homework," I say. 

"Didn't you do it?" 

"Nope. I have no idea what's going on, plus I was too busy last night to finish it." 

"What makes you think I did it?" 

"Your mom is the teacher. Just give me your homework. I'm not playing with you." 

"Why should I give it to you?" 

I slam my hands on the lockers on either side of him caging him in. I'm vaguely aware that he's taller than me, but I'm pretty sure he won't defend himself. He squeaks and sinks into himself making him seem smaller than he really is. 

"Now, are you gonna give me the homework or am I gonna have to take it?" 

"Here, here, just take it." He shakily hands me a folder. "Just leave me alone." 

I take the folder and let him go. "Thanks, queer." I say and leave for the commons. 

I sit next to Andi at her table and she smiles weakly at me. 

"How's life?" I ask and she just shrugs. "Not great?" She shakes her head. I notice a developing bruise on her cheek, but I'm not gonna ask, it's not my business.

Luka

A 6' 3" nerd with depressive behaviors. He has two older sisters and an alcoholic older brother. He's a junior in highschool and got outed by a "friend" at the end of freshman year. Tends to spend his time doodling, ice skating, and drooling over guys that he'll never have. He's got a black curly undercut, ice blue eyes, and thick rimmed glasses. He and his siblings lived in France until he was seven and his dad got a better job in America, so they moved.

Sylas

The new kid at school. He just moved from Portland and is not happy about it. He's kinda short and tries to act tough to make up for that. He's kinda homophobic but that's because he didn't grow up in a household where everyone was accepted. He spends most of his time on Tumblr and runs a pretty popular blog. He has longish brown hair that he ties back and big brown eyes.

Andi

A cute Asian girl with colorful hair. She's Luka's best friend and they've known each other since they were eleven. Andi is a shy girl who doesn't like to stand up for herself or others. She's quirky and funny when with people she knows, but is almost silent when with people she doesn't know. She's also fairly scared of men, especially straight men.

Oliver

Luka's friend with benefits who isn't exactly out to anyone except Luka. He doesn't hang around Luka much in public because he's scared of being bullied or called gay. However, when they're alone Oliver focuses all of his attention on Luka and tries to make him happy.

Lillian

Luka's oldest sister, she's a sophomore in college and the only other member of his family who is queer. She's dating a non-bianry person named Ash whom she loves and adores. She has a corgi named Nugget and her favorite person in the family is Luka even though there's the largest age gap between them. Like most of her siblings, except Luka, she has dark blond hair and hazel eyes. The only similarity between her and Luka's appearance is that they both wear glasses.

Lucy

Luka's other oldest sister. She's a senior in high school and the captain of the cheerleading team and is generally pretty popular. Unlike most people she's not scared to talk to Luka at school and will even protect him to no end. She's scared that Luka will get depressed again and try to hurt himself, so she's very careful around him, but that usually just makes Luka mad.
