โ3 Little Black Birdsโ is done! I had so much fun with this piece. In a very Buddhist moment last night I was contemplating all the things that had to come together to create this piece. I began with the bones, beef, I believe. These bones would have lived a full life prior to ending up in my dogs clasp. Months of gnawing, chewing and smoothing. Then they were sawed and placed here. Hmmm, what else? The spool looks quite old, donated to me by a neighbour. It would have started out as a tree of some sort, living a full life prior to being cut and fashioned into a spool. Then it was a tool, used for years and years by the looks of it. How many hands have touched this spool?! Now laying in this piece. The life of a rock is difficult to calculate but what I love about these ones is they came from a very particular beach in Greece and were hand picked from thousands and thousands! They were carefully packed and brought back to Edmonton. And here lay lay, next to the bones of an Alberta cow and a wooden spool of unknown origin.
