At one point, a little bit after Loki realizes theyâre in love with Copycat (But obviously before the two of them end up saying anything about it, because theyâre both caught in a loop of self-doubt and low self-esteem.) Loki makes up a plan to steal an ancient artifact from a museum, which, unbeknownst to most of the people at said museum, is actually a magical artifact from Asgard.
The plan involves going to this big party to celebrate the unveiling of this artifact, specifically, involving Copycat and him (Or her, in this case, since sheâll yet again be âlady Lokiâ here as to not attract too much attention.) pretending to be on a date. (Whether or not her planning to âfake dateâ is intentional or not, Iâll leave up to your interpretations.)
However, miscommunication happens, and Copycat thinks Loki is actually asking it on a real date. Of course, hilarity ensues, including Copycat acting a bit nervous and flustered the entire time and buying flowers for her. (Internally chanting âdonât screw this upâ over and over again to itself.) Copycat just keeps trying to make the âdateâ the most memorable date possible... and... I suppose it works?
In the end, they get the artifact, but also end up stranded on a row boat in the middle of the ocean. This is where Loki says something in passing about the âfakeâ date. Copycatâs reaction clues Loki in on what happened:
---------------------------------------------
âYou... didnât think that was a real date... *Smirk fades a little* did you?â
âUh- whaaat? No, of course not! I was just... acting that whole time. I wanted to make sure it was as believable as possible, thatâs all!â *Insert nervous laugh here*
*Also insert a cheesy scene where they notice a cruise ship off in the distance firing fireworks off. Because Iâm a hopeless romantic, let me have this-*
--------------------------------------------
In the end, Blake and Loki canât sleep that night. Blake just internally kicking himself for thinking that Loki would âever want to date someone like himâ, and Loki just mulling over what happened, ultimately denying the possibility of CC loving them, thinking Copycat wouldnât want them and, if he really did think it was a real date, it was most likely accepted out of pity.
... And this, ladies, gentlemen, and variants thereupon, is why these two take so many chapters to finally say something to one another.
