So here's a thing I brainstorm about from time to time but my recent post about giants got me going again:
You know how Morgan, Nimue, Sebile, etc. are referred to as "Fairy Queens"? (With Morgan being famously called Morgan le Fay meaning Morgan the Fairy) And how the supernatural "Fairy Queen" archetype is replete across folklore - Aine, Una, Titania, Mab?
Well, for a long time, I concieved something very similar for Queen Guinevere. Because despite being normally portrayed as mundane lady, Guinevere does have supernatural potential. The catch being that, in Welsh lore, Guinevere is a giantess.
And my thought was "Does this mean Guinevere is a Giant Queen or Ogre* Queen?" which led to "WAIT, this makes Guinevere really special in her own way because rarely is there ever a "Queen of the Giants" as a character type"
With that in mind, Guinevere - alongside similar female characters like Britomart, Olwen and Gwen's own daughter, Melora- have a unique way to be granted the mystical without needing to be in the same category as Morgan or Elaine of Corbenic.
So yeah, what would you say to "Ogre Queen Guinevere" or "Gwenhwyfar Gawres"?
(*The word "Ogre" is sometimes used as a synonym for giants in Medieval French. Of note, the kingdom of King Arthur is called "Logres", which is called the "Land of Ogres" in Chretien de Troyes' Perceval. So this has even more synergy with Giantess!Gwen because it would mean Guinevere is "Queen of the Land of Ogres")
