How to remove rusted galvanized pipes from a wall
Galvanized water pipes rust, which is why plumbers rarely use them for residential water lines anymore. Rust causes leaks, settles inside the pipes and impedes water flow. If you have an older home with galvanized pipes, damp walls or floors, low water pressure and rust-colored water are signs that the pipes have rusted. Although galvanized pipes are threaded, you cannot simply unscrew a rusted pipe from the middle of a line. If there is no union that you can disassemble, the only option is to cut it out. Remove enough wall covering to get to all the rusted pipes. If the wall is covered with drywall, a big hole isn't much harder to fix than a small one, so make a big hole so you have enough room to work. Turn off the water supply to the pipes. If there is no dedicated valve for the pipe you are working on, turn off the main water supply to the house. Open the lowest faucet in the line to relieve water pressure. Cut out the rusted section with a reciprocating saw and a 15 cm metal cutoff blade. Make a cut at each end of the section, about five inches from the faucet, and then make as many cuts as necessary to pull the pipes out of the holes in the studs through which they are routed. Unscrew the ends of the pipes from the fittings using a pipe wrench. Hold the fitting with one pair of pliers while turning the pipe counterclockwise with the other. Spray a generous amount of lubricant on the fitting if the pipe will not turn, and let the lubricant sit for 10 to 20 minutes. You can also lubricate the joint by heating it with a propane torch and holding a plumber's candle to the joint. The wax will melt and penetrate the joint to provide the necessary lubrication. If you use a torch, place a heat shield between the fitting and the frame to prevent burns.

Make Your House Feel Amazing With These 5 Home Plumbing & Aesthetic Upgrades You’ll probably want to opt for one that gives you full control and those will often require additional outdoor plumbing. There are lots of plumbing services that have perfected this, such as Emergency Plumber San Jose and others.
A Seasonal Plumbing Maintenance Checklist for Homeowners
Your home’s plumbing system works hard every day, but it’s often overlooked until something goes wrong. A small leak, blocked drain, or ageing hot water system can quickly become an expensive repair if left unchecked. By carrying out a few simple maintenance tasks each season, homeowners can keep their plumbing system running efficiently and reduce the risk of unexpected breakdowns.
Here’s a practical seasonal plumbing maintenance checklist to help you stay ahead of common plumbing problems throughout the year.
Why Seasonal Plumbing Maintenance Is Important
Regular plumbing maintenance helps:
Detect small issues before they become costly repairs.
Improve the efficiency of your plumbing system.
Extend the lifespan of pipes, fixtures, and appliances.
Reduce the likelihood of emergency plumbing call-outs.
Protect your home from water damage.
A little preventative maintenance each season can save both time and money in the long run.
Spring Plumbing Checklist
Spring is the perfect time to inspect your plumbing after the cooler months.
Check for Leaks
Inspect:
Kitchen and bathroom taps
Toilets
Under sinks
Exposed pipes
Outdoor taps
Even a slow drip can waste a significant amount of water over time.
Clean Gutters and Downpipes
Remove leaves and debris to ensure rainwater drains away properly and doesn’t contribute to water pooling around your property.
Test Outdoor Taps
Turn on garden taps and hoses to check for leaks, corrosion, or damaged fittings.
Inspect Drains
Slow-draining sinks or showers may indicate the beginning of a blockage. Address minor issues before they become major drain problems.
Summer Plumbing Checklist
Hot weather often means increased water usage around the home.
Inspect Your Hot Water System
Check for:
Rust
Water leaks
Unusual noises
Reduced hot water performance
Early signs of wear are easier and less expensive to address.
Check Irrigation Systems
Inspect sprinklers and irrigation lines for leaks or broken fittings that could waste water.
Monitor Water Pressure
High water pressure may seem beneficial, but it can place unnecessary stress on your plumbing system and appliances.
Look for Hidden Leaks
Keep an eye on your water bill. A sudden increase in usage may indicate a hidden plumbing leak.
Autumn Plumbing Checklist
Preparing your plumbing before winter helps reduce the chance of seasonal issues.
Clear Household Drains
Remove accumulated hair, grease, soap residue, and debris from sinks and shower drains.
Check Toilet Performance
Ensure toilets flush properly and aren’t running continuously.
Inspect Gas Appliances
If your home uses gas heating or cooking appliances, arrange professional servicing before heavier winter use.
Examine Flexible Hoses
Inspect hoses connected to washing machines, dishwashers, and sinks for signs of cracking, bulging, or wear.
Winter Plumbing Checklist
Winter places additional demand on hot water systems and indoor plumbing.
Test Your Hot Water System
If your hot water is taking longer to heat or running out quickly, it may need servicing.
Inspect Indoor Pipes
Look for signs of moisture, corrosion, or leaks around exposed plumbing.
Check Bathroom Ventilation
Proper ventilation helps reduce moisture buildup that can contribute to mould and hidden plumbing issues.
Listen for Unusual Plumbing Noises
Banging pipes, water hammer, or gurgling drains can indicate developing plumbing problems that should be inspected.
Plumbing Maintenance Tasks to Do All Year
Some plumbing habits should be followed throughout the year.
Never Pour Grease Down the Sink
Grease hardens inside pipes and is one of the leading causes of blocked drains.
Use Drain Strainers
Simple strainers help prevent food scraps, hair, and debris from entering your drains.
Know Where Your Main Water Shut-Off Valve Is
In the event of a burst pipe or major leak, shutting off the water quickly can minimise damage.
Watch for Early Warning Signs
Contact a licensed plumber if you notice:
Slow drains
Water stains
Low water pressure
Dripping taps
Higher-than-normal water bills
Unpleasant drain odours
When to Schedule a Professional Plumbing Inspection
While homeowners can complete many routine maintenance tasks, some inspections require professional expertise.
Consider scheduling a plumbing inspection if:
Your home is more than 10 years old.
You’ve recently noticed recurring plumbing issues.
Your hot water system is ageing.
You’re buying or selling a property.
You want peace of mind that your plumbing system is operating efficiently.
Professional inspections can identify hidden leaks, ageing components, and potential problems before they result in costly repairs.
Final Thoughts
Seasonal plumbing maintenance doesn’t have to be complicated. By taking a few minutes each season to inspect your plumbing system, you can reduce the risk of unexpected breakdowns, improve water efficiency, and extend the life of your plumbing fixtures and appliances.
If you notice persistent leaks, blocked drains, hot water issues, or other plumbing concerns, having them assessed by a licensed plumber early can help prevent more extensive repairs in the future.

Professional Hydro Jetting Services: The Most Effective Way to Clear Stubborn Drain Blockages
Blocked drains are more than just an inconvenience—they can disrupt your daily routine, produce unpleasant odors, and lead to costly plumbing repairs if left untreated. While traditional drain cleaning methods may remove part of a blockage, they often leave debris behind that can cause recurring problems. That's why many homeowners and property managers choose Professional Hydro Jetting Services to restore their plumbing systems. Hydro jetting uses high-pressure water to clean the inside of pipes thoroughly, removing grease, sludge, scale, tree roots, and other buildup without damaging properly maintained plumbing.
Whether you're dealing with a slow kitchen drain or a recurring sewer blockage, hydro jetting provides a powerful and long-lasting solution that improves water flow and helps prevent future plumbing issues.
What Is Hydro Jetting?
Hydro jetting is a professional drain cleaning technique that uses specialized equipment to send highly pressurized water through plumbing pipes. Unlike drain snakes that only punch a hole through a blockage, hydro jetting cleans the entire interior surface of the pipe.
This process effectively removes:
Grease buildup
Soap residue
Food particles
Mineral deposits
Tree roots
Sludge accumulation
Organic debris
The result is a cleaner plumbing system with improved drainage and reduced risk of recurring clogs.
Why Choose Hydro Jetting Instead of Traditional Drain Cleaning?
Many plumbing blockages return because the underlying buildup remains inside the pipes. Hydro jetting provides a more complete cleaning solution that restores the full diameter of the pipe.
Benefits include:
Thorough Pipe Cleaning
High-pressure water removes debris from pipe walls instead of simply creating a small opening through the blockage.
Improved Drain Performance
Clean pipes allow wastewater to flow more efficiently throughout your plumbing system.
Environmentally Friendly
Hydro jetting relies only on water, eliminating the need for harsh chemical drain cleaners.
Long-Lasting Results
Because the entire pipe is cleaned, blockages are less likely to return quickly.
Affordable Hydro Jetting Solutions for Every Home
Many homeowners assume advanced plumbing technology comes with an expensive price tag. In reality, Affordable Hydro Jetting Solutions often save money by reducing repeat drain cleaning appointments and preventing major plumbing repairs.
Hydro jetting is an excellent option for:
Recurring drain clogs
Slow-draining sinks
Grease-filled kitchen drains
Sewer line maintenance
Preventive plumbing care
Older plumbing systems with heavy buildup
Investing in thorough pipe cleaning today can help avoid costly plumbing emergencies tomorrow.
When Should You Schedule Residential Hydro Jetting Service?
Not every clogged drain requires hydro jetting, but certain plumbing problems benefit greatly from this advanced cleaning method. A professional inspection can determine whether Residential Hydro Jetting Service is the best solution.
Signs include:
Frequent Drain Clogs
Repeated blockages usually indicate buildup throughout the pipe rather than a single obstruction.
Slow Drainage
If water drains slowly from multiple fixtures, your plumbing system may need a more comprehensive cleaning.
Unpleasant Drain Odors
Food waste, grease, and organic debris trapped inside pipes often produce persistent smells.
Gurgling Pipes
Air trapped behind developing blockages can create unusual sounds when water flows through the plumbing system.
Addressing these warning signs early helps prevent more serious plumbing issues.
How Does the Hydro Jetting Process Work?
Professional plumbers follow a detailed process to ensure safe and effective cleaning.
Camera Inspection
Before beginning, technicians inspect the plumbing system using a specialized drain camera to locate blockages and evaluate pipe condition.
Pressure Adjustment
Water pressure is adjusted according to the type of blockage and the condition of the plumbing system.
Complete Pipe Cleaning
The hydro jetting equipment thoroughly cleans the interior walls of the pipe, removing years of accumulated debris.
Final Inspection
After cleaning, the plumbing system is inspected again to confirm that wastewater flows freely and the blockage has been completely removed.
This process provides long-lasting improvements without unnecessary excavation or pipe replacement.

When Is Emergency Hydro Jetting Service Needed?
Some drain blockages develop into plumbing emergencies that require immediate attention. Emergency Hydro Jetting Service helps restore proper drainage before water damage or sewage backups occur.
Emergency situations include:
Main sewer line blockages
Overflowing floor drains
Multiple clogged fixtures
Wastewater backups
Severe grease buildup in drain lines
Rapid professional service minimizes disruption while protecting your property from additional damage.
Tips for Preventing Future Drain Blockages
Although hydro jetting thoroughly cleans your plumbing system, good maintenance habits help extend the results.
Dispose of Grease Properly
Never pour cooking grease or oil into kitchen drains.
Use Drain Screens
Drain covers help prevent hair, food particles, and debris from entering the plumbing system.
Schedule Preventive Maintenance
Routine drain inspections help identify buildup before serious blockages develop.
Avoid Chemical Drain Cleaners
Harsh chemicals may damage plumbing components while providing only temporary results.
Preventive maintenance keeps your plumbing system operating efficiently throughout the year.
