Ugh I’m re-watching ALOTO and my head is just swimming with (mostly useless) things. Astonished at how ingrained and casual...all of it...is. A lot of the choices surrounding Max are especially wonderful- her best (fully her own person with her own interests, also a total freaking nerd) friend, allowing her to encounter a family member who offers support through community, rather than ally-ship (choosing NOT to isolate Max), allowing her to explore her identity fluidly, safely, within that community. Seeing her flourish at Uncle Bertie’s party up against the terror of the bar scene. But then also! Three! Butch, dyke-ish characters. One who is not skinny!? Just seeing Jo made my heart so happy, and she is so beautiful!! The Rosie cameo!?!? And her role as a result...
Juxtaposed with the fact that I’ve mostly reblogged Carson/Greta which is all well and good, there’s a lot of good stuff riding on both of them, but for me due mostly to the fanservice element (having a lil crush on Abbi since Broad City and absolutely 100% having been zeroed in on the Abbi/Gemma scenes, the fact that that’s a partially self aware choice is a doozy)- with them and so many of the Peach teammates I am so excited for the long haul- the developments between each of them. The whole Lupe & Carson dynamic (PLEASE more of this, I am starving for teamwork), Lupe, Jess & Esti, the Maybelle of it all, and yes of course whatever the hell Shirley has going on, may she never get botulism.
