Peter didn’t write a lot. This hot head, manly, going to tell Yeshua what to do guy; still somehow remained Yeshua’s right hand man…didn’t leave much written directions. But he did leave us this. “Above all” pretty active direction… “love one another” there’s the point… “earnestly” and there is the hook. Some translations say “deeply”. This is straight forward direction. So how do we accomplish this with all the twisted definitions of love our there? Well Paul gave us the one and only definition of love. 1 Corinthians 13:4-6 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Peter says DO THIS EARNESTLY!! Because why? Because it covers a multitude of sins!! Biblical love in Yeshua’s Name breaks strongholds! It drives people to the foot of the cross when they see the reflection of their sin in the mirror of Godly love. People are horrible in general (me included) but the fact is we are all worth fighting for. We are all worth loving for. 1 Corinthians 13:7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Core mandate as a follower of Yeshua. If we can’t get this right then we are in trouble.
