You know how you’ve had not only a memorable vacation, but a “successful” one? When you leave and take a piece of it back with you, knowing that this place has forever changed you for the better. That’s what happened with our trip to La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club a few weeks ago. While there, we woke up each morning and hit the courts...the tennis courts, that is. From a killer workout - disguised as a tennis lesson, taught by one of the @LJBTC pros, Brook - to trying our own luck on the court as a couple, both Nick and I fell back in love with tennis.🎾 For me, it was such an awakened passion that, once home, I ended up checking out the Beverly Hills courts near my home to see when they offer lessons. See, while I had never been an athletic girl growing up - falling more on the creative side of the spectrum - I attended tennis camp when I was about 8 years old and really took a shine to the sport - well, as much as I would ever take a shine to any sport. As life (and time management) sometimes asks of us, I had to choose my activities wisely and so I chose the creative crafts of acting, singing, writing and a side of community service, while tennis fell by the wayside. A few years ago, my best friend Chris Richards bought me a turquoise tennis racket for my birthday because he had heard me talk about this lost little dream for so many years. I hit the courts a few times and then the racket sat in the bottom of the hall closet like so many dreams sometimes do...until I booked my trip to @LJBTC. From this experience, I take with me memories of beachfront picnics with friends I wish I got to spend more time with throughout the year, songs sung over s’mores and sparkling Cabernet Franc with endless verses, delicious desserts of mud pie that shall live on in my dreams, an epic tableside Caesar salad at The Marine Room that’s worth making the trip to La Jolla alone for...and, a lost little dream of a little girl I once knew that has become a newfound passion for this woman.
