last song: Things Behind The Sun by Nick Drake. Nick Drake is a deeply sad yet somehow affirming experience for me, every time. Music to listen to in stillness or in nature.
last movie: My last movie was Shin Ultraman (2022) which I came to totally blind and really quite enjoyed! Camera angles GilliGould would envy. I suppose this is as good a place as any to plug my letterboxd, which I am trying to use more as a repository for film thoughts and where I would like to follow you, if you have an account!
currently reading: rereading asoiaf. I decided this year would be the year of the short story and then my dad died and I needed Roy Dotrice in my ear 24/7 repeatedly mispronouncing lichen, gallant, Brienne, Joffrey, etc..
currently watching: I just finished rewatching The Terror (see life event above for context) and am now rewatching Black Sails (ibid.).
currently consuming: perfectly ripe bananas
currently craving: There was this cake I used to have sometimes as a child called lemon half moon dan cake. It was, as the name suggests, a hell of a mouthful: fresh and sweet without cloying. It reminds me of summer. It isn't sold here any more, and any attempts on my part to emulate it have failed miserably. The idea that the taste is forever lost to me is something I think about more often than I should.
