Allen brought a Christmas tree taking up half of their living room. He flooded the fridge with Christmas dishes he couldn't touch. Replaced all the soaps and shampoos with Christmas scented ones.
It was barely the first week of December and Link dreaded what else his flatmate was gonna pull out of his stockings.
Linkllen Modern AU Headcanons/Scenarios because I am bored as fuck
Also I will be camping for 4-5 days with limited internet access (and my phone is a piece of shit so sometimes it wonāt post a post I have meticulously typed out on my phone so I wasted five minutes for no good reason).
-Link loves to trace Allenās eye scar.
-At any opportunity for hand holding, Link holds Allenās deformed hand. I mean any opportunity. It becomes an unconscious, automatic thing as well. Allen is trailing off distractedly, about to get himself lost in a crowd? Link grabs his left hand to keep him from wandering.
-It becomes so normal for Allen to sit in Linkās lap or hang off of Link, that without that extra weight Link feels a bit anxious/lonely/put off. If Allen is gone, Link will compensate the loss of the extra weight through a weighted blanket. That, or one of his siblings with take Allenās place (mostly Kiredori).
-Allen will lightly flick Linkās forehead, right in the middle of the two dots if Link annoys him.
-Link will sometimes move a piece of Allenās hair in a way thatĀ āfeels offā or blow a strand of his hair away from where itās supposed to be if Allen annoys him. This in turn makes Allen huff in annoyanceĀ ābecause how dare you mess with my hairā.
-Allen likes to mess with Linkās face, hair, hands, and really anything else. Link, who is mostly used to Allenās antics by now will sit quietly and let him. Sometimes heāll mess with him by making a funny face or mess up whatever Allen did with his hair (like if he put it into a bun, heāll mess with it to get it out of the bun to annoy Allen).
-Allen is the one who mixes skittles and m&mās together in a huge ass bowl.
-Link is the one who falls for it every damn time.
-Link likes to watch snowflakes fall in Allenās hair and likes winter because he associates it with Allen.
-Allen likes summer, or really anything with the sun involved because he likes how it makes Linkās hair glow. He mostly enjoys summer though because itās warm, like warm bread, or a warm kitchen, and he associates it with Link.
-If Allen ever gets lightly scraped or scratched heāll pout and whine at Link toĀ ākiss it and make it betterā because heās a childish brat. Sometimes heāll go so far as to lightly bump his hand or elbow against something and whine at Link to kiss it better. Depends on Allenās mood and how much he wants to mess with Link.

Fatherās Day-like Scenario/Headcanon (this is not the Fatherās Day fic Iām doing, it just popped into my head).
Okay, so we all know Leverrier is a huge dick. we can probably safe assume that he is a huge ass homophobe on top of many other things. Well, hereās a cute/fluffy/angsty scenario/headcanon I had in my head for awhile dealing with Link and Cross. Modern AU! Read under the cut for it is kind of long.
If you havenāt guessed by now I headcanon Link as a flaming gay. My OTP is also Link x Allen which is why Parent!Cross is involved here.
Cross knows from the first time Allen invites Link over (theyāre kids, Allen is 8, Link is 10 via my Modern AU! verse) that Link is gay. Heās seen him plenty of times before with Leverrier, but he never paid attention to him until he befriended Allen. I mean, he has to keep an eye on Allen. He didnāt want Allen to befriend some big ass jerk. So when he is first invited over, Cross is watching him like a hawk becauseĀ āOh god thatās Leverrierās kid, what is Leverrier planning?ā.
Over time he sees Linkās interactions with Allen and his intentions and he lowers his guard down once he figures out this is not a wholeĀ āLeverrier spying on him thingā. In other words, Link is acting on his own and Leverrier actually doesnāt find out about his growing bond with Allen until much later. Cross finds out Link is actually capable of acting on his own accord instead of being Leverrierās little puppet. Whether involuntary or voluntary, Cross takes Link under his wing. He feels bad that the kid is so boxed in by Leverrier and tries to get Link to grow out of it. Link sort of becomes like a third kid to him. If Cross was being honest with himself, all of Allenās friends sort of become like his kids. Same with Tiedoll towards Allen. Theyāre like one huge family.
Whenever Link is over at their house Cross becomes the force to get Link to act like a kid. Iām talking aboutĀ āWeāre going to have ice cream for supper whether you like it or notā orĀ āStudying!? I think not! Youāre going to play this video game with my brat if it kills you!ā. He becomes the sort of force where when Link steps into his home, itās a place to shed Leverrierās rules and regulations. This is a place where he can have fun. There are no homework deadlines, no fears of being the very best (Link is a perfectionist from hell in my Modern AU). This is a place where he can forget and can express his emotions freely. To be a kid. Even if he doesnāt know how, he has Allen to show him.
As the years go by and Link decides to date Allen, Cross learns a lot about Link. Link acts the way he does because he has to for Leverrierās support (money, food, shelter for him and his siblings). Cross becomes protective over Link although itās more indirect because he doesnāt want to alert Leverrier. He knows Leverrier would get beyond pissed if he found out about Link dating his brat so he helps to keep it covered up. Cross becomes Linkās go to for advice. For one, Link wants to show his love to Allen without hiding the fact that theyāre dating. However, he doesnāt know how far he can take it without alerting Leverrier that they are more than just friends. Cross becomes his source to bounce off ideas and to seek advice over whether or not certain actions would be safe or unsafe in regards to Leverrier.
Of course, eventually Leverrier finds out and itās brutal. I mean brutal (which I will write out one day but we got awhile before that and I donāt want to do any spoilers). Link is disowned alongside his siblings. Money is gone. Food is gone. Shelter is gone. His older siblings manage to work out a way to find a home and get a source of income, but he finds it hard to live with them because of the guilt of ruining their livelihoods because he couldnāt hide his relationship with Allen.
Cross letās Link live with them, no questions asked. He thought this would happen eventually and already had a plan set up in case it happened. As far as Cross was concerned, Link was family. He made Allen happy and he was apart of the friend group regardless. Family helped family, whether or not they were blood related. Cross becomes a huge part of Linkās healing and becoming his own person. Itās brutal to see the kid look so lost once he lost all the constraints Leverrier put on him. It was both scary and freeing to be rid of them and Cross becomes that father-like figure to Link.
I know I donāt really go into depth, but like I said. I want to write this out sometime and I donāt want to give a whole lot of spoilers on it yet. I just like the idea of Cross being that stand in father figure that Leverrier could only hope to be.
