So, you know how shoebill birds are probably the inspiration to Loftwings in Skyward Sword?
These guys:
Yea, these guys, these amazing birds with tall legs, an 8 foot wing span (2.5 m) and a hard beak that they use to decapitate their preys with.
Looks pretty similar to Loftwings, uh?
Well, I was thinking about it and, since Wild's Hyrule is full of wildlife and, since Loftwings existed in Sky's era, then it wouldn't be unusual for shoebills to exist.
It's as if they underwent a process of evolution, where their height was reduced to better fit the surface and to prevent from being hunted and spotted, ence why their colours probably went from bright ones to more dull ones, darker and unsuspicious.
So, imagine that, one night, Sky, the ever wood carver, bird lover he is, shows the Chain a carving he made that depicts a Loftwing. Most specifically, Zelda's. He's been carving it through their journey to, when they arrive in his Hyrule, give it to her as an apology gift, for leaving in a heap of... Well, not even he knows. He just saw purple and run after it. (it turned out to be a portal)
So, as he's showing it, Wild looks up from the food he's preparing, totally obvious to what it is or to who it is, and says:
"Oh, cool. A shoebill. Didn't know you had those in your era." And turns back to the food.
And Sky is just standing there quiet, trying to understand what he meant with that, and shrieks before asking:
"A shoe-what? Wild, this is a Loftwing... Wait a minute, you have Loftwings in your era?" He's totally perplexed by the possibility of seeing some kind of legacy left by Skylofters in far away eras, but it comes down a few minutes after, when Wild explains.
"Loftwing? I have never heard that name and I have to say that we don't have them. But we do have showbill birds and those look a lot like that carving. Oh, wait, I have a picture in my slate. Hold up a minute." So, he takes his slate out of his waist holder thingy, scrolls through it and then hurls it around for Sky and the others to see. (the picture is the one above)
And. And Sky is just. Perplexed and emotive, because what he was seeing was a miniature Loftwing, much like how the juvenils looked, but fully formed. It made him realise that maybe, just maybe, Skylofters had left more than just a name to the land. They'd left Loftwings, in smaller size, that contributed to the ecosystem of Hyrule in one of the timelines Time had drafted upon using the ocarina of time.
He didn't sleep that night.
Instead, he carved another Loftwing, this one flying, wings outstretched and beak opened in a screech. HIS Loftwing.
He passed out mid stroke of the knife against wood, yearning of home.
Four wearing Time’s armor. When it fits, when it gets too big and when he drowns in it. He is screaming inside.
Made this for someone on Discord.
The fact that I'm genuinely considering making a Sky cosplay from @linked-universe (sorry it doesn't tag) both intrigues and frightens me
the wolf is the reflection it’s showing the true wolfie inside the darknut i’m sticking to my stupid headcanon guns this is twilight reincarnated

Positions and Batting Order:
Sky - SS (3B, P) //right-handed Wild - 3B (SS, LF) //right-handed Twilight - C (1B, 3B) //wears pants Warrior - P (1B, RF) Legend - CF (LF, 2B) Four - 2B (SS, CF) Hyrule - LF (RF, C) Wind - RF (CF, 2B) Time - 1B (P, C) //wears pants SUBS Sun - P Sheik - Anywhere (1B) Tetra - 2B/outfield Ravio - outfield Aryll - bat girl (MVP)
Descriptions:
Sky - solid base hits but can also knock 'em out occasionally. Loud when he leads infield. Very quick during a play, but Wild can still catch up when running bases. Doesn't waste time with pitching wind-up or at-bat. Wild - fast enough to get on base with a bunt, aggressive base-runner (very vigilant). Quiet so primary position is 3B, but signs to communicate and make sure everyone knows where they're going during a play when covering shortstop. Feels a little weird when people call the team 'boys' (Hyrule asks team not to on Wild's behalf). Twilight - power hitter. Tries to make intimidating faces at the pitcher when batting. As catcher, snickers to himself when batter swings and misses at a change-up. Strong arm but throws are occasionally wild. Warrior - starting pitcher, and prides himself on being great at it. Practices relentlessly. Hates being pulled out of a game and throws to get runners a little too often. Time talks him down from it occasionally, tells him to hurry it along. Scrappy hitter, refuses to strike out. Legend - takes charge in outfield, can be a little overly precise with directing other fielder's positions (especially Wind). Big, exaggerated crow hops to throw home. Solid grounders for base hits, aggressive stealer. Four - loud at second base, especially when Wild is covering short. Huge range for hits, Time often doesn't bother running for them. Very quick turnaround for double-plays. Disappointed when Time doesn't bring a ball out for infield warm up. Gets walked a lot because he's short. Great at slap hitting.
Hyrule - Excellent range in the field, flops over the fence for foul balls. Low confidence, tries really hard, a little understated but a solid player. Lots of energy and fast to get past balls when catching. Very quick on bases but skittish about stealing. Wind - SO ENTHUSIASTIC! Very encouraging to the pitcher when they're down, and hangs out with Wild on the bench (Wind is youngest so he doesn't super fit in). Covers first base every single play that it's needed with lots of energy. Little bit of a try-hard when he's at CF. Can get frustrated at-bat (often swings at balls with two strikes) and makes funny faces. Time - little old, doesn't like to move that much so he's last in the order and usually plays first. Great at pitching and very efficient with it. Takes charge when the others get down. Only runs fast on base when he has to, usually hits dingers to avoid it. He can be fast, he just doesn't want to 😂
I don’t think ANYONE will care about this because sports???? but here ya go
