It is actually a little bit difficult to discern which version is correct. It might be helpful if the added red color in the second matched the red for the rest of the shirt. The funny thing with its flab sticking out, is it does portray a realistic body on Veronica for once -- by hook or by crook.

Backing up a tad, a more interesting point than I made regarding the easy intimacy of Betty and Veronica in sharing swimsuit changing rooms, the manner in which time works. And I can point to some things over the years with Frank Doyle / Dan Decarlo, but Kathleen Webb seemed to especially go with this -- this two page sequence from Betty and Veronica 158 is, like, two minutes of conversation between the two which happens over the course of, like, a fifty minute after lunch p.e. class -- or workout period of some sort. Of course, in reality there would be a lot more grunting than clear jabber.
