not me being so entranced by Rhys’ dancerly legs & feet in Short Poppies that I had to draw them… couldn’t be me…

Meets LIGS! Ligs is a former Homeworld gem. Well on Homeworld, the Blue Tiger’s Eye Gem was stressed & depressed, and really just an anxious mess. Unhappy with themselves and their life, Lig’s one day just decided to...leave.  Managing to one day steal a small, mostly unimportant and old ship before it could be turned to scrap, the Gem just took off, as far as they could. Due to an unimaginable stroke of luck, the Gem found themselves headed towards Earth, a hundred and some years before the events of Canon take place. Though Ligs didn’t know this, my theory of the reason that the CG’s never found them, was because the Gem had no intention of doing anything to affect the Earth. They just wanted to exist in whatever sort of peace they could find. As such, any futures involving Ligs (or other former Homeworld non-CG gems that just want to hide on Earth for peace) simply weren’t important or big enough to warrant Garnet’s Future-Vision attention. Settling (and occasional rotating around to avoid suspicion when they realized the CG’s still existed) in the northern reaches, towards Canada, the Blue Tiger’s Eye gem slowly opened up, learned, and became more and more who they wanted to be, and expressing it. Well humans themselves were hard at first, Ligs found great peace, comfort, and emotional support from animals. Taking on the ‘human’ name, Ligs, the gem started to weave themselves into human society, taking up ‘work’ from anything from wildlife rehabilitation to helping animals get adopted. Currently, they enjoy human things like food/drink and jackets/shirts, have scrapped their stolen ship and integrated it into the frame of a human truck, and upgrading it for the times they just needed to be back in the solitude of space for a while, but still being able to travel relatively sneakily among humans. They currently own 2 newfies, who go everywhere with them.
