I love it when in no walk aus or like college aus, people make Pete do something music related because of the, "In times past, I would liked to have been a songwriter."
While I do truly enjoy that piece of fanon, he says songWRITER. He doesn't necessarily mean he wanted to be a singer, just simply write music. Very likely writing song lyrics, but I'm not against him like, writing more instrumental stuff.
So imagine, songwriter Pete struggling to find someone to sing/play his songs the way he wants. The times he does find someone, they either don't want to pay him properly or even take credit for writings. Just, not the best of luck for Pete.
Then here's outspoken Ray, taking a shot at this whole music thing after a few years of dancing under his belt. They just click instantly and Pete loves the way his writing just, shines with Ray's musical talent.
