i love how unique Light Discs are as a weapon, both in the movies and shows but especially in the games where you get to use them. the concept of the identity disc is AWESOME. you can use them for ranged, melee, AoE, and even status effect attacks. and it can be modded and upgraded. i feel like it functions as an all-around weapon because it can do almost everything that you would usually need multiple weapons for.

i also like that a light disc will automatically return to it’s owner and cannot harm them. the closest thing irl we have to a throwable weapon that returns to the wielder is the boomerang but it can still seriously harm them if not caught correctly.

on top of all that the light disc is basically the program/user’s identity and contains all their memories/information. this really takes the idea that “the weapon is an extension of you” to a whole other level because the weapon basically is you. imagine getting to beat up someone with your soul. that’s freaking awesome.

lastly, i just love the cool and sleek design of the light discs. they are simple but pleasing to the eyes and are just so iconic and unique to the tron franchise.
